A cool custom build wrapped up for Mike Lloyd ! It combines a couple classic overdrives, and a newly-developed Boost circuit. The overdrives are order-switchable, and the boost can be placed before or after the two overdrives - super handy! Hard to get a bad sound out of this thing, enjoy Mike! 😁

Building a “Klone” is almost a right of passage for pedal builders, but I must confess - I’d never built one until now. It wasn’t because I don’t like the circuit or anything, it was because of those dang charge pumps! I just never felt comfortable releasing something that would break if it ever so much as sniffed a higher voltage input.
After developing the voltage-boost board for the Lighthouse, however, that hurdle no longer existed, so here it is: Our take on the “mythical overdrive” you know and love (germanium transistors and all!), but powered by a stable, noise-free 30VDC - regardless of the input voltage. 9V, 18V, centre negative or positive, it doesn’t care, it’ll just work and sound fantastic. Oh, and we also wired it for “almost always worse” (true bypass) 😋

I absolutely LOVE my original Zendrive 2. In fact, I think it’s a bit of a sleeper pedal. But, it’s starting to shows its age, and requires almost 500mA to function. Disappointingly, the tube inside is only used as a fancy clipping diode, so I thought: why not try to re-create it, without the tube? A successful night of breadboarding ensued, the circuit sounded incredible, but why stop there? Why not include the original version 1 on a toggle switch? After cooking up some clever switching, the Small batch “Zendrive” was born.
Both incredible versions - The brighter, more aggressive version 1, and the fat, fuzzy, version 2, in one compact package.
