I know... $5,000-$10,000 for a Bathroom or Kitchen Reno? Seems pretty low...
Aren't they usually like $25,000 or more?
Yes, Sometimes. They can also be well under $25,000 or well over. It all depends on your personal choices.
Here's the thing... If you get 5 different quotes, you're going to get 5 different prices and will seem like it doesn't even make sense.
Why is one guy thousands less? Why is another guy thousands more? Is there any rhyme or reason to this?
My name is James McManamy, and I'm the project manager here at On Deck Construction.
We've been able to build a successful business thanks to one simple thing:
Honesty.
So let's answer the original question...
Why do prices differ so wildly?
For one, many contractors are really bad at managing their money. So they get into a really bad cycle of undercharging to win jobs... Then needing to cut corners and use inferior materials...
Then running out of money to complete the job, so they try to over-charge on the next one thinking they can get one over on YOU.
It's all over the place.
It’s bad for their business, because they don't think long term. This is also bad for you because you get a bad product, built by a company who's barely getting by.
The way we do it is completely different.
Here at On Deck Construction, we price things the same way each and every time. We aren't the cheapest. Paying too little can cost you in the long run...
But we also aren't the most expensive. Overpay and you're likely paying for a company's insanely high overhead or their employee habits. It’s becoming hard to trust any contractor nowadays.
Another reason is that maybe it's a guy who's trying to get margins that are just simply unfair.
But, because we run our business responsibly
we don't have the overhead of the huge bloated companies... because of this we can do the highest quality work with the best materials and charge fair prices. We own all of our vehicles, tools trailers etc… so we don’t have large monthly payments. We do however have the highest possible insurance and worker’s compensation.
With On Deck Construction you're getting peace of mind—knowing that your project is done correctly and at a fair price.
