Save money and hassle with some *simple tips* 👇😊:

In Appliantology we call self clean "self destruct".

Avoid the self clean button, but *still* get your oven to (basically) clean itself.

After a "traditional self clean" you would still have to wipe up the ash anyways. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ What if you can easily wipe up the mess without having the risk?...

We see many expensive repair stories that begin with "I was self cleaning and then..."

When you want to clean your oven, you can prevent and expensive repair with some simple tricks that still get your oven to self clean, without the risk.

👉 Spray/wipe your oven walls with lemon juice or vinegar. "Fill a dish 1/3 full of water and place it in the oven. Bake it at 250 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 minutes. Then, just sit back and relax! As the water and lemon juice heat up, the vapors will begin clinging to the grime, making it loose enough to wipe away."

• Keep the water topped up to keep the oven moist along the way.

• Remove the dish and racks at the end and give them a wipe. Then open up and wipe the walls while the mess is still warm and soft (way easier then). Wear long sleeves.

• You can remove your oven door to avoid a "Cirque du Soleil yoga bend" to get in there. (Check YouTube with your brand/model number and the key words "oven door")

🪟👉 To clean the glass you can use a scraper or blade to scrape away the dry *or* wet and it will come nicely clean. https://youtu.be/29ebcSWAHpA?si=tX6ZEH8T3SWHYWKm

🪟👉 Don't have a scraper? Gotcha covered! ✊😁

Your appliantologist is busy enough as it is. Why make more work for them? 😁

??⬇️??⬇️??⬇️??⬇️??⬇️??⬇️??⬇️??⬇️??⬇️??

?Why does it happen? The temp for self clean is higher than you normally cook at. A great stress test for your machine if you are still under the 1yr warranty ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

?What happens?
• The safety trips and your door won't unlock.
🫣 With wall ovens this can mean your repair person will have to be part safe cracker. Because the screws that stick you oven in your cupboard cubby are behind the door! 🫣 To pull it out for repair we need to open the door. BUT to open the door we need to pull it out (you can see the dilemma!)
• The lock that sat unused for months/years gets jammed.
• The control board overheats and gets fried

Gas stoves may produce on average 2x the PM2.5 that electric does.

Plus gas stoves release byproducts of combustion as well. Natural gas stoves can release carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and other harmful pollutants into the air, which can be toxic to people and pets.

What is PM2.5?
• Particles are defined by their diameter for air quality regulatory purposes. Those with a diameter of 10 microns or less (PM10) are inhalable into the lungs and can induce adverse health effects. Fine particulate matter is defined as particles that are 2.5 microns or less in diameter (PM2. 5).

• PM2. 5 is more likely to travel into and deposit on the surface of the deeper parts of the lung, while PM10 is more likely to deposit on the surfaces of the larger airways of the upper region of the lung. Particles deposited on the lung surface can induce tissue damage, and lung inflammation.

LONG DRY TIMES AND FIRE SAFETY: The cold weather is coming soon. This leads to more condensation inside the dryer duct/vent, especially nearest to the outside. When moisture condenses it holds fine lint particles too (yes, not all lint gets caught in your machine's lint screen).

The more lint stuck inside the slower the air flow, therefore the more time for the air/steam to cool and make more lint. So the issue snowballs.

If you have not had your ducts cleaned in the last couple years it may be time to hire a professional duct cleaner. If you have a furnace that blows warm air around to heat your house it's good to have those ducts cleaned too.

If you feel the dryer is taking too long to dry then before getting a repair on the dryer it's best to start with a duct cleaner (need to do every couple years anyways so no money lost there). The dryer maybe fine and even if the dryer needs work having clean ducts will help ensure the machine stays happy after a repair.
