The Eco team is always eager to source the best possible materials for our clients, prioritizing products that combine long-term performance, durability, and thoughtful design. Designed for high-performance building envelopes, the NZP product line delivers advanced thermal efficiency and architectural flexibility tailored for cold climate construction.

Manufactured in Quebec and adapted to northern conditions, NZP systems emphasize airtightness, insulation, and lasting performance, with Passivhaus-certified options available for cold climates. The range includes locally manufactured systems alongside specialized European tilt-and-turn wood windows, offering solutions for both contemporary and highly architectural projects.

Whether using fiberglass-reinforced recycled uPVC or premium wood and aluminum-clad configurations, the focus remains the same: exceptional sealing, triple glazing, durability, and real-world energy performance designed to last. This allows us to support projects that are not only architecturally refined, but prioritize long-term efficiency in practice.

This is the kind of project we live for: A heritage home where craftsmanship, respect for architectural style and deep knowledge of building science and materials come into play.

On this old Outremont home, we replaced the main floor’s leaky windows and backdoor using NZP’s triple pane Passive Certified PVC units, manufactured in Quebec, built for durability and energy savings. They come with a faux-wood finish on the frame interior, which allows the new units to blend nicely with the existing interior heritage trims we carefully removed and reinstalled once finished.

Fun note: the front window was over 500pds, it took 6 of us to lift into place. Many hands make light work ;)

It’s not always the big, dramatic projects that change your life. Sometimes it’s the little custom touches that make all the difference.

Like secret cubbies under the stairs. Honestly, who wouldn’t want one of these to make daily life a little easier and a lot more fun?

Recently Aaron from @475.supply building products came to geek out with the Eco team and gave us an in-depth review of materials that offer amazing solutions for pesky building science problems. Thank you Aaron, we love you and your brain!!!

Our genuine passion for continuous learning about high-performance building materials helps us guide clients toward making more informed renovation decisions and that can lead to meaningful cost savings — just as it did for our clients in Ahuntsic!

Ahuntsic came to us with a surprise problem, as most owners of heritage homes do. In order to give their exterior walls a fresh facelift, they thought they could strip the layer of wallpaper down to the original plaster drywall layer, and simply repaint it. Instead they found there wasn’t just one layer of wallpaper, but 5, and no original plaster drywall layer to be found! Since the 1900’s the wallpaper had been installed over thick wood boards, stacked one on top of the other, and secured directly onto the original studs over the Quebec Framing.

They thought they would have to hire us to demolish the stacked wood boards, re-insulate the cavity between the original studs, and then install a vapour barrier and lath to secure the new finish layer of drywall. But they hadn’t budgeted for that. They were feeling anxious about our estimate to perform the work, and on top of that, they also had a very tight deadline!

We took their problem to heart and found a better solution. There turned out to be blown insulation between the original wall studs that was in decent condition. If we were to remove the stacked wood boards this would make the insulation crumble out and force us to re-insulate and reframe all their exterior walls just as they feared...

We proposed simply prepping the stacked boards to be even and free of wallpaper residue, and then installing an Intelligent V***r Barrier Membrane overtop, so the new drywall could be screwed directly onto the stacked wood boards. And that’s how a 20k job became 10k while improving their energy performance.

A young family with 1900s home needed to re-finish their exterior walls covered in layers of ancient wallpapers.

We used 475’s Pro Clima Intello Smart Air/V***r Membrane, a “smart” membrane that changes its v***r permeability based on the relative humidity around it. This meant the homeowners could avoid the extra expense of complete demolition and re-build and allow us to refinish their old walls while improving the home’s energy performance. ~ 10k instead of 20k later, the job was done!

Moral of the story: we get paid to be building science experts and we enjoy paying it forward ;)
