We might still have some cold days ahead, but Spring is definitely on its way. Time to take the cover off your A/C condensing unit outside (if you put one on). Feel free to spray using a garden hose ONLY to give it a quick rinse. It's also a good time to check the filter in your furnace. This seemingly small item is what protects your equipment and keeps the air flowing, winter and summer!

Now that the snow has made an appearance, here's a gentle reminder to NOT put a full cover on your A/C unit outside. Doing that provides a warm, cozy place for critters to make a nest, potentially chewing through wires. It also encourages rust formation. It is often forgotten in the warm spring weather, which causes damage to the motor if not removed before start up. If you feel strongly about covering the unit, cover only the top of the unit, leaving the sides open. Happy Fall!

Summer weather is almost here! Be sure to check the performance of your A/C system. Clean or change the filter in your furnace (using a low MERV so air flow is not restricted), rinse off your outdoor condensing unit (using a regular garden hose ONLY), make sure both supply and return air grills are free of any obstructions. Also remember to keep your windows closed when running your A/C so the humidity level in the house stays low. Enjoy the warm weather!

Crazy weather we're having! Hot then cold, windy, rainy, CRAZY!
Be prepared for the real hot weather. Test your air conditioner as soon as it's warm enough outside. Anything over 20°C is warm enough to run your A/C to make sure everything is working fine. Also a great time to change the furnace filter and wash down the outdoor condensing unit with a garden hose. And give us a call if you need a new air conditioner! 905-732-0600

next week. In the meantime, you can get ready for the summer heat with a few simple steps:
1. make sure you take the cover off your A/C unit if you have one
2. make sure you put a new, inexpensive filter in your furnace; it
allows for better air flow than a high MERV pleated filter
3. change your thermostat to COOL
4. set at a reasonable temperature, not too cold
5. make sure your windows are closed
6. remember: it can take 24 to 48 hours for your A/C to get to
temperature. It needs to remove all the humidity from your
home before it can cool properly
