We’re Hiring – Quality Assurance Manager | Whitehorse, Yukon

Klondike Welding Ltd. is looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Manager to join our team in Whitehorse, Yukon.

This is a hands-on management position responsible for overseeing our QA/QC program and ensuring our structural steel fabrication and er****on work meets applicable codes, standards, project specifications, and client requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

Managing and maintaining our QA/QC program
Maintaining CWB certification requirements and compliance with CSA W47.1 and CSA W59
Performing and documenting VT and MPI inspections
Managing ITPs, NCRs, inspection reports, material traceability, and project turnover documentation
Coordinating third-party NDT and client/consultant inspections
Monitoring welding procedures, welder qualifications, consumables, and fabrication quality
Working closely with production, engineering, clients, and consultants to resolve quality issues

Minimum requirements:

Level 2 Visual Testing (VT) certification
Level 2 Magnetic Particle Testing (MPI) certification
Strong structural steel fabrication and welding inspection experience
Ability to read structural/shop drawings, welding symbols, specifications, and applicable codes
Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills

Klondike Welding Ltd. is looking for a motivated individual to join our fabrication team in Whitehorse, Yukon.

This is a full-time, year-round position where you'll work with modern fabrication equipment while supporting the production of structural steel projects across the Yukon and Western Canada.

What you'll be doing:

⚙️ Operate our CNC plasma cutting table
🪚 Cut steel using horizontal band saws
🚜 Assist with yard operations, shipping and material handling
🏗️ Work alongside experienced welders, fitters and fabricators

Experience with CNC equipment is an asset, but not required. We are willing to train the right person.

Quality control becomes even more critical when working in remote locations.

For this project in Old Crow, Yukon, the foundation steel was fabricated in our shop in Whitehorse, trucked to Anchorage, Alaska, and then airlifted into the community aboard Hercules C-130 aircraft. Nearly 40,000 lbs of steel were flown in per load, requiring two separate flights to deliver the complete package.

This is the reality of working in fly-in-only communities across the North. When logistics are this complex and expensive, there are no easy do-overs.

That’s why thorough quality control, accurate fit-up, and careful planning are essential to ensure the material arrives ready to install and the project stays on schedule.

Project Highlight – Porcupine Enterprises LP Shop, Old Crow, Yukon

Klondike Welding Ltd. is currently leading the design, supply, and installation of the structural steel superstructure for a new maintenance shop facility for Porcupine Enterprises LP in Old Crow, Yukon.

The building utilizes a rigid frame structural steel system designed to accommodate large equipment and support the operational needs of the community. While the substructure and piling system are being designed by ISL Engineering, Klondike Welding is responsible for the engineering and design of the steel superstructure, with a strong focus on developing a structural solution suited to northern conditions and remote construction.

The project is currently in the design phase, where close coordination between engineering, detailing, and fabrication planning is ensuring an efficient path forward into production and er****on. This integrated approach allows us to optimize the structural system early while aligning with the logistical realities of working in Old Crow.

Once complete, the facility will provide Porcupine Enterprises LP with a modern, durable space capable of housing and maintaining their full fleet of equipment.

We are proud to contribute to infrastructure development in northern communities and to continue demonstrating the value of integrated steel design and construction.
