1. When will BabyAlpha A2 support more languages?
BabyAlpha A2 now supports 16 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Irish, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Danish, Czech, Hungarian, Slovak, and Slovenian.
2. Can you provide more information about the hardware and features?
BabyAlpha A2 builds on advanced sensors and hardware designed for realistic interactions.
Here is a quick listing for hardware: A2 series have (1) 1x HD camera on the forehead for computer vision as well as taking photos and videos; (2) 1x active infrared camera at the bottom for scanning the plate of the charging station and for future possibilities of floor/ground recognition etc.;(3) 3x TOF lidar for distance and obstacle detection; (4) 1x 360° lidar for SLAM and obstacle avoidance; (5) 1x Millimeter wave radar for moving objects(human, pet, etc.) and intrusion detection; (6) 1x 6DOF IMU for motion control and 6D pose estimation; (7) 1x temperature and humidity sensor; (8) 1x 3-mic microphone array for voice recognition and sound source localization; (9) 2x multi-touch sensor at the chin and the back of the head; (10) 12x joint force, speed, and position sensing; (11) 2D odometer based on previous sensors.
3. What are the details of its guard and patrol modes?
When the security patrol mode is activated, BabyAlpha can autonomously patrol in designated areas. When the guard mode is on, BabyAlpha A2 will stay put on the charging station and issue warnings if it detects suspicious activities
4. What are the details of the BabyAlpha A2’s super chat feature?
Super Chat offers diverse actions & emoticons to be selected from, turning your text messages into vivid performances and enhancing communications. On the interface of Super Chat, you can also see the real-time reactions of the ones who receive your Super Chats. In short, Super Chat will make interactions more engaging & lifelike as if you're together.
5. What are the specific manifestations of its autonomous and lifelike features?
BabyAlpha A2 starts autonomous behavior immediately upon being brought home and powered on, moving around and exploring on its own. It can sense surroundings, recognize objects, obstacles, and humans, and make corresponding autonomous movements like avoiding obstacles and interacting with people with its facial expressions Also, it supports autonomous charging and will return to the charging station when the battery is low. 6. Can BabyAlpha A2 create a map of my home and set up “no-go” zones?
It is not supported yet, but you can turn on restricted mobility mode to limit its activity range.
7. Can BabyAlpha A2 climb stairs?
For now, the A2 series only supports (1) under 20° slopes, (2) under 5cm steps. But WEILAN is planning to support regular stairs, the specific OTA update for supporting regular stairs is still under estimation.
8. Does A2 support custom functions in the later stage, that is, can users customize the dog's name, voice, and personality by themselves?
Yes, you can name your own BabyAlpha A2 within a couple of months, and you can also choose its personality, interests, expertise, likes and dislikes, etc.
9. What functions will be added in the future OTA upgrade plan?
By the upcoming December, we plan to provide the following features via OTA:
Short video recording will be added to capture your important moments in daily life, further enriching the experience of living with BabyAlpha.
Photo-shooting feature upgrades. With multi-modal interactions, BabyAlpha will be a personal photographer that can attract people’s attention when capturing photos.
Better memory to remember more things that being told, making it better integrated to your family.
10. What functions can be used in an offline state?
BabyAlpha A2 is an internet robot, so it's highly recommended to connect via WIFI or cell phone hotspot. In an offline state, as of now, all voice and LLM capabilities that depend on cloud AI are unavailable since it's not designed for disconnected use. But most vision, SLAM, remote control, and autonomous behaviors, which are local functionalities, won't be affected by the lack of internet connectivity. The developers will also explore enhancing local capabilities without an internet connection.
11. What if I have concerns about the battery?
BabyAlpha A2 uses the high-quality 21700 electric car battery cells and the battery pack is custom designed and manufactured by BYD, which is one of the biggest Tier-1 electric car battery providers. Its battery life is about 800 charge cycles. If it is charged once per day, it's supposed to last 3+ years under normal operating conditions.

12. What does after-sales service include? Will there be any additional subscription fees?
Currently, there is no subscription fees for BabyAlpha A2. If subscription fees occur for new features updating via OTA, we will clearly inform users in advance.
We offer a 1-year free warranty for any quality issues for all backers, including motherboard, motors, and reduction boards. We stand with full confidence behind our product, as BabyAlpha A2 series have cumulatively passed over 10,000 hours of all-terrain reliability tests to ensure its safety and robustness. We will keep providing after-sale services, technical support, and using instructions through forms including but not limited to email, live chat, or video calls. We are also working on the development of local repair partners and will offer more details in the near future.
13. Can you guarantee timely delivery?
We’re committed to delivering on schedule and will keep you updated. The local delivery of BabyAlpha A2 Intelligent Petbot will begin in mid-December.
14. Does BabyAlpha A2 have CE certification?
The CE report is valid, and the result is positive. The process of going from the CE report to the CE certificate will take a while due to the approval process, which normally takes weeks. According to the estimation, the certificate will be available in November.
