# # # **Basic Overview of the Tailings Storage Facility**
The Fengshuling Tailings Storage Facility is located in Yincheng Town, Dexing City, Jiangxi Province. It lies in a valley on the western side of Fengshuling, approximately 1.6 km northwest of the new concentrator.
The facility is situated within a valley landform unit characterized by open and relatively flat terrain. The valley bottom ranges from 30 to 100 meters in width and extends approximately 2,500 meters in length. The catchment area of the tailings facility is about 2.8 km². The pH value of the tailings water ranges between 5 and 7.
The region belongs to a subtropical humid climate zone, featuring abundant rainfall, distinct seasons, wet springs and summers, and relatively dry autumns and winters.

# # # **Return Water System and Floating Platform Pump Station**
The return water system consists of a floating platform pump station constructed using modular HDPE components.
The floating platform is connected to a winch room on the shore via a steel trestle bridge. The return pipeline and power cables are fixed along the bridge. The platform is anchored by steel wire ropes and rises gradually with the water level in the tailings pond.
The return water pipeline is a single φ530×9 straight seam steel pipe, laid along the perimeter management road of the tailings pond and connected to the elevated return water tank at the concentrator.
The floating pump station is equipped with three double-suction horizontal split-case pumps. Key performance parameters for each pump are as follows:
* Flow rate: 800 m³/h
* Head: 70 m
Operating conditions:
* **1 pump in operation**: 800 m³/h, maximum return capacity 19,200 m³/day
* **2 pumps in operation**: 800 m³/h each, maximum return capacity 38,400 m³/day
* **3 pumps in operation**: 600 m³/h each (with variable frequency adjustment), maximum return capacity 43,200 m³/day
Under normal operation, all tailings water is returned to the concentrator for reuse, with sufficient redundancy capacity.

# # # **Electrical and Control System**
The control system adopts an intelligent PLC-based control cabinet. The PLC automatically controls pump operation based on preset parameters. A reserved fiber optic interface allows remote transmission of monitoring data, including pressure, flow rate, voltage, current, and power.
Optional remote communication interfaces are available to support unmanned operation and signal transmission.
The PLC system supports both local display and remote data transmission to the control room. Pressure transmitters installed on the pump discharge pipelines work in coordination with the PLC to regulate valve opening, enabling constant pressure with variable flow control.
When the pressure exceeds the preset value, the system automatically reduces valve opening to decrease flow rate. All electrical control equipment is integrated into:
* One power incoming cabinet
* Three pump outgoing cabinets
* One data acquisition and control cabinet
These are housed in a control room measuring 5.5 m × 2.1 m. To ensure stable operation under extreme temperatures, a 1.5 HP air conditioning unit is installed.

# # # **Trestle Bridge System**
The trestle bridge is 12 meters long and 1.2 meters wide. It is composed of modular floating pontoons combined with standard steel structural components. Stainless steel (304) guardrails are installed on both sides.
Both the pontoons and guardrails are standardized components, allowing for easy on-site assembly, transportation, and packaging.
The bridge width is 1.2 meters. Water pipelines and cable trays run beneath the bridge, while rail tracks for a trolley system are installed on top.

# # # **Safety Measures in the Tailings Area**
A 1.2-meter-high steel safety guardrail surrounds the floating platform, equipped with lifebuoys and safety warning signs.
The steel trestle bridge is also fitted with 1.2-meter-high guardrails on both sides. A locked safety gate is installed at the entrance. Surveillance cameras are installed in the winch room, enabling operators to monitor the floating platform, bridge, slope access, and personnel movement.

# # # **Relocation of the Floating Pump Station**
Since its commissioning, the floating pump station has operated reliably for nearly six years.
In March 2025, due to the continuous rise in the tailings pond water level, which reached the location of the original transformer room, the floating pump station was relocated upward as part of an overall upgrade.
Our company was responsible for the design and planning of relocating the original floating pump station to a newly designated position.
