PEEK, introduced in the late 1970s, has gained traction in industries like aerospace and electronics due to its exceptional performance. It is a semi-crystalline polymer with about 30% crystallization during printing. PEEK maintains mechanical properties at high temperatures and offers a high strength-to-weight ratio, making it a potential metal replacement. Its flame retardancy makes it suitable for industries with fire/smoke restrictions. PEEK 3D printing is particularly valuable in the medical field for customizable implants, as well as in aerospace and automotive sectors.
