Per Tyre Industry Research:
The U.S. government is set to impose a 25% tariff on nearly all imported car and truck tires, as indicated by a recent document on the Federal Register website (https://lnkd.in/edp4HG6U)
This measure is part of a broader strategy to address trade imbalances and bolster domestic manufacturing.
The tariffs are expected to take effect before May 3, 2025, though the exact date remains unspecified. Other tire categories, such as agricultural and off-road tires, will be subject to country-specific duties.
Those HTS codes include all tires for passenger cars:
4011.10.10 New Pneumatic Tires, Of Rubber, Of A Kind Used On Motor Cars (in rim sizes from 13-inch to over 18-inch)
4011.10.50: New Pneumatic Tires, Of Rubber, Of A Kind Used On Motor Cars not otherwise stated
It also includes
4011.20.10 New Pneumatic Tires, Of Rubber, Of A Kind Used On Buses Or Trucks.
