White oxidation around the edges of a screen is often related to galvanic corrosion between stainless steel mesh and aluminium profiles.
The white deposits are usually aluminium oxides or hydroxides. Water, salt and cleaning residue can easily collect inside the frame grooves and create the conditions for corrosion.
This means the corrosion products do not necessarily come from the stainless steel mesh itself.
Coastal environments, high humidity, poor drainage and direct contact between stainless steel and aluminium can all accelerate the problem.
Good installation design is just as important as good mesh quality.
