In a correctly engineered hydraulic tank, a baffle plate physically separates the hot return oil line from the pump suction line. This forces the returning oil to travel along the outer walls of the tank, dissipating heat naturally before being drawn back into the system.
Without an effective baffle, the pump immediately sucks the boiling return oil right back into the circuit. Your oil never gets a chance to rest or cool down, creating a rapid, localized heat loop that overpowers your standard heat exchangers.

To prevent heat stagnation, ensure your reservoir volume matches the flow demands of your injection molding cycles. Use this standard industry baseline:
