Tanke Won the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award🇨🇳
We have once again been recognized with the Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award for its participation in the project "Development and Application of New Feed Trace Mineral Products," led by Academician Yin Yulong 👨🔬from the Institute of Subtropical Agriculture, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 2025.
On the academic front, the project systematically mapped the spatiotemporal patterns and interaction mechanisms of trace mineral absorption and metabolism in livestock. It established the nutrient requirements across different growth stages and clarified the mechanisms linking trace minerals with intestinal cells and organismal stress. A pioneering "chelation rate detection – cell/organoid – in vivo animal" integrated bio-efficacy evaluation system was developed, including breakthroughs in porcine intestinal and placental organoid construction and cell transport modeling. This fills a global gap in efficacy assessment methodologies for trace element products.
On the industrial front, the project tackled three critical challenges in China's feed sector:
1. The absence of standardized evaluation systems;
2. Low utilization efficiency of inorganic salts;
3. High heavy metal emissions in manure.
Two core technologies – solid/semi-solid synthesis and crystalline particle synthesis – were developed, leading to 29 production lines for novel additive products. A "reduction and efficiency" technical system covering pigs, poultry, and aquaculture was established, delivering both improved livestock performance and significantly reduced metal emissions.
As a key industry player, Tanke has contributed to the formulation of 3 Chinese national standards and 1 industry standard for mineral amino acid complexes(chelate), holds 22 national invention patents, and has undertaken over 20 research projects at various government levels. Together with its peers, Tanke has helped forge a competitive Chinese organic trace mineral presence in the global feed market.
From foundational research to industrial deployment, and from domestic leadership to international recognition, this achievement highlights China's growing capacity for innovation in agricultural biotechnology. Looking ahead, Tanke is well-positioned to continue advancing sustainable and high-performance solutions for the global animal nutrition industry.
