In the processing of engineering plastics and high-performance resins, NMP (N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone) serves as a highly efficient solvent for various poorly soluble polymers, acting as a core solvent in the production and processing of polyimide ( ), polyvinylidene fluoride ( ), polysulfone ( ), polyethersulfone ( ) and other advanced materials.
Taking polyimide production as an example, NMP can fully dissolve polyamic acid ( ) — the precursor of polyimide — to form a polymer solution with stable viscosity.
