Against the backdrop of rapid development in Southeast Asia's manufacturing sector, energy issues are increasingly becoming a key factor affecting business operations. Cambodia's relatively weak power grid infrastructure leads to frequent power fluctuations and outages, while persistently high electricity prices place a dual burden on manufacturing companies, balancing production stability with cost control.
This problem is particularly acute for the injection molding industry. Production equipment has extremely high requirements for continuous power supply; even a brief power outage can lead to product scrapping or equipment damage. The traditional power supply model relying on mains electricity and diesel generators is no longer sufficient to meet the dual demands of stability and economy in modern manufacturing.
Building an Online Smart Energy System
To address these pain points, Yiyen Technology tailored an online smart energy system for Changhong Plastics Group's injection molding plant in Cambodia, deeply integrating photovoltaics, energy storage, and diesel generators, fundamentally reconstructing the factory's power supply logic.
The project configuration includes 700kWp photovoltaic power + 1.2MW/1.3MWh energy storage + diesel generators. Unlike traditional grid-connected systems that switch after a power outage, this solution employs an "online" architecture, ensuring continuous operation of photovoltaic (PV) and energy storage as the primary power source, with mains power as an auxiliary source, uniformly dispatched by a power electronic system.
Zero-Interruption Power Supply Capability
The system's greatest value lies in its fundamental improvement in power supply continuity. When mains power fluctuates, experiences intermittent outages, or even malfunctions, the system achieves seamless power supply with zero milliseconds, eliminating the risk of power outages entirely. Compared to the traditional grid-connected switching time of approximately 10ms, this "seamless power supply" capability effectively ensures the stable operation of injection molding equipment, guaranteeing uninterrupted production.
For manufacturing scenarios requiring 24/7 continuous operation, this capability signifies a shift from "passively responding to power outages" to "actively mitigating the impact of power outages."
Efficient Multi-Energy Collaborative Operation
In daily operation, Yiyen Technology utilizes an intelligent energy management system (EMS) to achieve dynamic collaboration between PV, energy storage, and diesel generators.
During the day, photovoltaic power prioritizes supplying production loads, with surplus electricity stored in the energy storage system. At night or when sunlight is insufficient, the energy storage system releases power. Only in cases of prolonged cloudy or rainy weather or insufficient stored energy does the diesel generator automatically start as a backup power source.
This operating mode transforms the diesel engine from a "regular power source" to an "emergency backup," significantly reducing fuel consumption and maintenance costs while improving overall system efficiency.
Cost Reduction, Stability, and Green Transformation
Through the deep integration of photovoltaics and energy storage, the factory can maximize the use of abundant local solar energy resources, reducing dependence on expensive grid electricity and effectively reducing energy costs while ensuring stable production.
Simultaneously, the use of clean energy drives the company towards a green and low-carbon transformation, improving economic efficiency while considering environmental value.
Through this project, Yiyuan Technology helped Changhong Plastics' Cambodian factory complete a key upgrade—transforming from a "vulnerable user" dependent on the external power grid into a modern smart factory with "high resilience, low cost, and green" power supply capabilities.
In overseas markets with complex power environments, this case study not only serves as a model solution for addressing Cambodia's unique power conditions but also represents the future direction of energy management in industrial parks. Through continuous project implementation, Yiyuan Technology is providing manufacturing enterprises with more stable, efficient, and sustainable energy solutions.
