When stepping into the new year, nothing brings more joy and satisfaction than receiving positive feedback from our customers!

Days ago we received a letter from our client who was EPC of the Package 3 of Huizhou-Haifeng Natural Gas Transmission Pipeline Project. We, Luoyang Deping Technology, was awarded a 5.3km-long in-tunnel pipe laying project and completed it in late June, 2024.

It is worth mentioning that this in-tunnel pipeline project is the most difficult and essential part of the whole pipeline. And it is also the longest in-tunnel pipe laying project in China so far!

By undertaking this project, we have created a miracle because we not only completed it successfully on schedule, but also did it 4-5 times faster than our competitors. Thanks to our decades of dedication to independent R&D, we made swift response to client request and innovated dedicated equipment for this project.

To complete this project, in addition to all necesssary manpower, we innovate and provided two sets of SDT700 tunnel dedicated integrated pipe handling vehicles, two sets of SDM700 pipe discharge frames, one set of SDD900 pipe fit-up vehicle, three sets of SDT900 welding vehicles, one set of DPFM2436 pipe facing machine, one set of DPIWM3638 automatic internal welding machine (for root pass) and three sets of ZDP850D dual-torch automatic orbital welding systems.

First 100 joint running-in production started on mid March. Throughout the project, 100%AUT+100RT+100%DR NDT principle had been strictly followed. First pass rate of Deping automatic welding system reached over 98% (99% for AUT; 98% for DR;98% for RT). Mechancal test (CTOD and tensile test) was also passed. The most brag-worthy thing was that our welding production rate reached over 20 joints per day in the confined tunnel space that featured high humidity and stale air, which had posed great challenges to both equipment and our crew.

Here is the client's appraisal: During in-tunnel pipeline construction , Deping had actively collaborated with our project team, taking responsibility for pipeline support installation, providing welding equipment services, and successfully completing the construction tasks with focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. Notably, they demonstrated impressive innovation in the transportation, deployment, and alignment of pipes within the confined space of long-distance tunnels. By improving traditional tunnel construction methods, they significantly enhanced the efficiency of pipeline installation in tunnels!

Behold our ZDP950 single-torch orbital automatic welding system (AWS) used for large-diameter welding with FCAW.

Compared with commonly recognized single-torch AWS, Deping ZDP950 features:

With fluxed-cored filler willer, ZDP950 AWS also enjoys advantages as follows:

1. Excellent welding performance
Flux-cored wire ensures a stable arc during welding, effectively reducing spatter and arc interruption, thereby improving welding quality. It is highly adaptable and suitable for various welding positions, including flat welding, vertical welding, overhead welding, and horizontal welding.

2. High peposition efficiency
Compared to solid wire, flux-cored wire has a faster deposition rate, allowing more welding work to be completed in the same amount of time. This makes it particularly suitable for large-scale projects and high-efficiency production environments.

4. Good crack resistance
The deoxidizers and other components in the flux core effectively remove impurities such as oxygen and nitrogen from the weld, reducing the likelihood of welding cracks. This feature is especially advantageous for welding materials prone to cracking, ensuring welding quality and structural integrity.

Animation shows how our self-developed in-tunnel integrated pipeline construction system works! With this versatile system, in-tunnel welding production can be improved by 4-5 times, which has been perfectly proven by a 5.3km-long in-tunnel pipeline welding construction project completed by us in late June.

By successfully completing this project, we, Luoyang Deping Technology Co.,Ltd., has set a milestone and created a micrale in Chinese pipeline construction history because it is the longest in-tunnel pipe laying project in China so far!

The system consists of three parts, each of which is an independent frame. First, two pipe transport frames will deliver the pipes from outside the tunnel to designated supports with remote control. When they are travelling through the tunnel, autonomous adjustments can be made to adapt to different conditions, such as uphill, downhill, turning and attitude.

Each frame is equipped with four (customizable) hydraulic-driven wheels. And there are two hydraulic supports at each side of the wheel. To adapt to the ups and downs in the tunnel, the frame can lift or lower the pipe so that it doesn't contact the tunnel wall, the supports or the roof.

When pipes are delivered to the designated support, one frame will return and the other will do pipe fitup together with the third frame. To do that, the two frames will hydraulically lifted and fixed. Pipe position will be adjusted by the frames to helpDeping self-developed automatic internal welding machine(aka IWM, which is also an internal pipe line up clamp) accuraty fit up the two pipes.

IWM will then do root pass welding with its six welding torches installed around it. Three torches will work simultaneously to complete half of the root, folllowed by the other half also using three torches at the other hemisphere. It takes only about 2 minutes to complete root pass welding using our IWM.

When root pass welding is done, our dual-torch automatic welding systems (AWS) will fulfill hot, fill and cap. Oscillation of each torch is controlled seperately. And the control system can provide both vertical tracking and horizontal tracking. These functions, together with the ergonomic digital-display pendant, can help save labor and energy of AWS operators to the maximum, which is also one of the reasons why we can do 4-5 times faster than our rivals.

Practice proves that this integrated system is highly efficient, highly stable and highly safe to operate in the confined tunnel space. In a nutshell, it is an excellent and well developed in-tunnel pipeline construction system that can significantly boost production rate!
