What Is a Robot External Axis? 🤖
A robot external axis is an additional axis controlled by the robot controller, working together with the robot's own axis.

What is external axis used for?
🔹 Ground track: Moves the robot along a long workpiece or across multiple workstations.
🔹 Positioner: Rotates or tilts the workpiece to improve robot accessibility.
🔹 Additional axis: Expands the robot's working range and provides more flexibility for complex applications.

For example, robot mounted on ground rail can move along the track while coordinating with its own axis to reach different welding positions.

In robotic automation, the right external axis configuration can help improve reach, accessibility, and system flexibility.

Yaskawa Robot I/O Wiring: 4 Things to Check 🤖
We've recently received a question about robot signal wiring. Here are a few points to check before wiring:
✅ Use the correct wiring diagram
Terminal pin definitions may vary depending on the robot application. Always confirm the correct wiring diagram first.
✅ Check the I/O assignment
The I/O corresponding to each connector number is predefined at the factory. Follow the manual for wiring. If the mapping needs to be changed, the ladder program must be modified.
✅ Confirm the connector number
Each robot comes terminal block, normally connected to CN308. It can also be connected to other ports as needed, so always confirm the connector number before wiring.
✅ If I/O signals don't work
Besides checking the wiring and connector number, check whether the ladder program has been modified. Changes to the I/O mapping can also cause signal tests to fail.

How to Load a 6m+ Ground Rail into a Container?🚜
A customer ordered a full container of automation equipment, one section of the ground rail is over 6 meters long. and this container uses the rear door loading method, which brings additional difficulties to the loading process.

So, how did we get it into the containe？

Before delivery, our engineers are testing a 1-ton L-axis positioner for a Yaskawa robotic welding cell, verifying its rotation stability and performance under load.
The vertical flip, horizontal rotation, and lifting/lowering functions have all been tested under load.

For robot automation systems, choosing the right positioner is an important part of system design.
