A cup pig can travel hundreds of kilometers through crude, wax, and sand. What keeps it intact? The build starts in our Shenyang workshop.
🔩 Material Selection:
Our cup pigs use a one-piece stainless steel skeleton because it resists corrosion and keeps its shape under high-pressure differentials. Stainless brushes are standard on pigs 12" and larger. Polyurethane cups are formulated in-house for wear resistance. Every batch ships with MTC (EN 10204 3.1).
⚙️ Manufacturing Process:
1️⃣CNC machining of the steel body to ±0.5 mm tolerance
2️⃣Polyurethane cup molding with precision aluminum molds
3️⃣Assembly and hydrostatic pressure test to verify body and seal integrity
✅ Quality Control:
• Dimensional inspection (cup OD, body length, weight)
• Hydrostatic pressure test (held 10 min, zero leakage)
• Balancing test for smooth pig movement
📦 Production Capacity:
We build 200+ cup pigs per month in our Shenyang facility. Custom sizes? 3–4 weeks lead time.
Every cup pig is pressure-tested before shipping. That's the EMT standard.

Why Your Pig Signaller Wears White 🤔

That white coat on the fl**ge? Not a fashion statement. 😄

What is galvanic corrosion?
It happens when two dissimilar metals touch in an electrolyte. One metal corrodes faster. The other stays safe.

🔧 How It Works:
Stainless steel (SS316) and carbon steel have different electrode potentials. Connect them in salt water or wet soil. A tiny battery forms. Carbon steel becomes the anode. It dissolves. Stainless steel stays protected.

Think of them as roommates sharing one wallet — the carbon steel ends up "broke."

📍 Where You See It:
• Fl**ge joints between SS body and CS pipeline
• Offshore platforms and coastal sites
• Any mixed-metal connection in wet service

⚙️ Key Points:

White coating = usually epoxy powder, not PTFE (no non-stick frying pan here)
Coating acts as insulation — it breaks the circuit
Proper isolation stops corrosion before it starts
🏭 EMT's Solution:
Our Pig Signaller Type B uses an epoxy-coated fl**ge (ASME B16.5). The coating isolates metal contact and resists salt-spray corrosion. Built for harsh pipeline sites.

Corrosion silently eats pipeline walls. How do operators catch it early? 📚

Corrosion monitoring tracks metal loss inside pipelines, helping operators protect asset integrity before failures occur. The global oil and gas industry loses billions to corrosion each year [Source: NACE IMPACT Study].

🔧 How It Works:
An ER probe measures resistance change as its sensing element thins. That change reveals the real-time corrosion rate.

📍 When to Use:
• Crude oil and gas transmission networks
• Seawater injection lines
• Chemical process piping

⚙️ Key Parameters:

Probe Element - Same material as your pipe,so its rate reflects your line
Measurement Range - 0-10 mm typical
Retractable Design - Enables online element change without shutdown
🏭 EMT's ER Corrosion Probe:
Our probe uses a sensing element matched to your pipe material, so its measured rate represents your actual pipeline. The sealed, explosion-proof collector fits petrochemical sites. It complies with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156. Since 1993, EMT has integrated monitoring, management, and control for corrosion.

Hidden corrosion remains the silent enemy of pipeline integrity, and by the time a leak appears, the cost of failure has already multiplied. EMT's electrical resistance (ER) and linear polarization resistance (LPR) probes deliver live, localized corrosion-rate data directly from the heart of your process stream.
Paired with our corrosion coupons housed in NACE SP0192-compliant holders, they give you two independent views of the same threat: instantaneous rates from LPR, cumulative metal loss from ER and weight-loss coupons. The real advantage is access. Our retractable and full-bore coupon holders let technicians retrieve or replace coupons without shutting down the line—no production loss, no isolation permit, no weather window. You simply bleed, pull, and read.
For operators managing sour gas, seawater injection, or mixed crude, that continuous visibility turns corrosion from a surprise into a managed variable. Every probe and holder is built to ASME B31.3 and NACE MR0175, with exotic alloys (Hastelloy, duplex, 316L) available for the harshest services.
EMT machines the bodies, welds the nozzles, and pressure-tests each assembly in our own shop, so the data you trust comes from hardware we fully control. Stop guessing metal loss from annual pig runs alone.

Last week, we welcomed a team of senior engineers from a major midstream operator for a site audit at our manufacturing facility. 👥They were specifically evaluating our production capabilities for a critical pipeline pigging operation project.

The client needed a robust solution for a complex scraper trap configuration, specifically requiring a high-performance retrieval tool for their offshore terminal. Their existing infrastructure was struggling with high-pressure, high-salinity environments, which significantly impacted their mean time between failure (MTBF). They required equipment that strictly adhered to NACE MR0175 standards to mitigate sulfide stress cracking risks.

During the visit, we walked them through our full production cycle, from raw material sourcing—strictly ASTM A106 and A333 compliant—to our final hydro-testing protocols. We focused on the technical design of our retrieval tool, emphasizing the double block and bleed (DBB) capabilities that allow for safe, online maintenance without requiring a full system shutdown. It is always rewarding to move beyond the technical specifications and show our partners exactly how we build reliability into every weld. By combining rigorous ISO 9001 quality management with field-proven design, we help operators maintain pipeline integrity while maximizing operational efficiency.

How does your team currently manage the transition from site survey to equipment procurement for mission-critical pipeline upgrades?👋

03/07/2026

Field engineers often reach out to us regarding anomalies in corrosion monitoring data. If your corrosion coupon holder is providing inconsistent readings or showing signs of leakage at the extraction point, it is time to inspect your assembly.

The most common culprit? Incorrect torque application during the retrieval process. Using improper torque values can compromise the seal integrity, leading to persistent leaks or damage to the threads.

If you are experiencing leakage, follow these steps to service your NACE-compliant corrosion coupon holder:

1️⃣Ensure the system is isolated using the double block and bleed (DBB) procedure before any intervention.
2️⃣Carefully inspect the PT (pressure-tight) plug for signs of thread deformation or seal degradation.
3️⃣When replacing the PT plug, always adhere to the specific torque values defined in our installation manual. Overtightening is just as detrimental as undertightening.
4️⃣Verify that the coupon holder assembly remains compliant with ASME B31.3 standards after re-installation.

Are you seeing unexpected corrosion rates in your monitoring program, or have you encountered specific challenges with seal integrity in the field? Let’s discuss your current setup in the comments below, or visit emt-pipe.com for technical datasheets on our full range of corrosion monitoring equipment.
