A drawing can include all the dimensions and still leave critical relationships unclear.

GD&T helps define how features relate, so tolerances focus on what truly affects fit, function, and inspection.

Swipe through this guide to review common GD&T symbols and their practical use.

CNC turning or CNC milling—which process fits your part?

CNC turning rotates the workpiece and is commonly used for cylindrical components. CNC milling rotates the cutting tool, making it better suited for flats, slots, pockets, and more complex geometries.

Choosing the right process can improve machining efficiency, part quality, and overall cost.

A precision part can meet every dimension and still cause problems during assembly.

Small burrs can interfere with fit, scratch mating surfaces, and affect sealing or motion. Proper deburring and edge control help reduce rework, protect downstream components, and improve repeatability in production.

ApexBatch can review critical edges, functional surfaces, and finishing requirements before manufacturing.

The same part can receive very different quotes, and the difference is rarely just material price.

Machine time, setup count, inspection, tolerances, finishing, machinability, and batch strategy all shape the real production cost. Understanding these drivers helps reduce unnecessary spend, protect margins, and choose a process that scales reliably.

ApexBatch can review your drawing and build a cost-efficient production plan.

A thin-walled housing leaves the machine, then shifts out of tolerance after unclamping.

Warping can come from low stiffness, residual stress, clamping force, and cutting heat. The right process strategy helps protect dimensional accuracy, reduce scrap and rework, and keep assembly results consistent across production.

ApexBatch can review your geometry, fixturing, and machining sequence before production to reduce thin-wall risk.

A simple “OK” is not enough when a custom part has to fit, function, and arrive on time.

In custom manufacturing, clear communication can prevent wrong assumptions before production starts. CAD files, drawings, tolerances, finish requirements, quantity, and deadline all help engineers identify risks, suggest safer designs, and keep batch production more consistent.

At ApexBatch, we focus on engineering communication before manufacturing, so customers can move forward with fewer surprises.

Bring your project details to ApexBatch before production begins.

A machined pocket comes off the CNC. The dimensions look right, but the inside corner is not the sharp 90° shown in the CAD.

That is not a mistake. End mills are round, so internal corners keep a radius. Forcing a tiny radius often means smaller tools, slower machining, higher cost, and more risk.

Good DFM turns impossible geometry into a workable design.

Send your drawing to ApexBatch. We’ll review the internal corner requirements before machining.

Ready to ship? Not until the part has been checked.

After CNC machining, a part should not just look good. Cleaning, dimensional checks, CMM inspection, surface review, and protective packing all help ensure the part is ready for real use, assembly, and delivery.

At ApexBatch, we follow a structured process before parts leave the factory, helping customers reduce quality risks before shipment.

Share your design with ApexBatch to begin your next project.

Is laser cutting only about speed?
Not really.
For sheet metal parts, cut quality affects much more than the first production step.
A clean and accurate cut can help improve:
✓ Bending accuracy
✓ Welding fit-up
✓ Assembly consistency
✓ Edge quality
✓ Overall part repeatability
That's why laser cutting is not just about cutting fast.
It is about creating a reliable foundation for the entire sheet metal fabrication process.
At ApexBatch, we support sheet metal projects from laser cutting to bending, finishing, and inspection.
