How does a Yagi antenna achieve a stronger, more directional signal?
The operating principle of a Yagi antenna incorporates three key components: a driven element, a reflector, and one or more directors. The driven element generates the signal, the reflector helps push energy toward the front, and the directors shape the radiation pattern into a narrower, more focused beam.
Compared to a basic dipole antenna, this configuration offers higher directivity and gain. For this reason, Yagi antennas are widely used in point-to-point links, outdoor communications, RF reception, IoT gateways, telemetry systems, and other wireless applications that require focusing signals in a specific direction.
At BAT Wireless, a deep understanding of the relationship between antenna structure and radiation patterns is a fundamental aspect of our RF engineering practice.
