Dear friends of the Argosy Foundation:
Hi!
It’s my great honor to express gratitude on behalf of team #6414 Voyager. We are thankful that you are very kind to offer us $4000 registration feefor this year seasonal competition. This e-mail is to update our learning course status throughout Pittsburgh regional competition and Houston championship.
In Pittsburgh regional, where Voyager attended FRC for the first time ever, we achieved the goal we set for first year;to win the Rookie Allstar Award and to get aticket for the world championship. We were proud of being one of seven Chinese teams qualified to compete in Houston championship, even though we didn’t reach a higher rank in the championship.
We learnt a lot during the last two months. Besides competition, we paid visits to several teams including #3504, #694, #2638, #329 and #624 in New York and Houston. We have built up international friendship between Chinese teams and American teams. We plan to consult #694(StuyPulse in New York city) on how to arrange our time during the building season, ofwhich we didn’t have much experience for the rookie season. Time is one of the mostessential factors that cause mechanical problems on our robot this year. Because time management inefficiency, we lost the opportunity to modify the robot and even to let our drive team practice.
In general, personally speaking, I think we have done our best in this season, but we still have great potential for improvement. Nevertheless, the good news is that we have already started our plan to fix all the shortcoming and insufficiency, especially in our time planning and project management.Recently, we have been working on our plan for the next season, including finding potential sponsors, shopping for useful components for the next season, and joining the off-season competition held in Pittsburgh by CMU. Furthermore, in order to pass teamleadershipto ourjunior team members, we will organize newcomers to attend FEIYUE program in CMU, which is a FRC training program.
Meanwhile, task for the senior membersis to find potential sponsors. They have been preparing PPT and some speeches since last week. For newcomers, we have designed carpentry-training courses for them, which aim on wood prototypes making. The reason why we designed this course is also to get well prepared for next year. The newcomers will be familiar with prototype making through this training curriculum.
Voyagers, stay inspired, beyond ourselves. We will reach a new altitude next year!
That’s a brief updating for 2017 seasonal competition, we are looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Your sincerely,
Voyager #6414
