Injection molding machine problems every day? Save this troubleshooting guide.

Short shots, flash, sink marks, bubbles, black spots…
Most molding defects are not random — they usually come from material drying, temperature, pressure, speed, cooling, or mold condition.

Here are some quick troubleshooting directions:

✔ Short shot → check drying, temperature, pressure, speed, and injection time
✔ Flash → reduce temperature/pressure, increase clamping force, check mold fitting
✔ Bubbles / voids → dry material fully, slow down injection speed, increase holding pressure
✔ Sink marks → increase holding pressure and cooling time
✔ No injection → check barrel temperature, nozzle blockage, back pressure, and screw feeding
✔ Ejection issues → extend cooling, slow down ejection, improve mold polishing
✔ Black spots → clean the barrel, lower temperature, replace contaminated material
✔ Mold opening noise → slow down mold opening speed and improve lubrication

A stable injection molding process is never based on guesswork.
It comes from correct material handling, process control, and mold condition management.

Two-shot molding is more than combining two materials.

It requires precise control of mold design, material compatibility, shot sequence, and positioning accuracy.

In this production collection, you can see how 2K molding helps customers achieve:

✔ Integrated parts without secondary assembly
✔ Better bonding between different materials
✔ More consistent appearance and structure
✔ Higher production efficiency for mass production

For two-shot injection molding, the real challenge is not only making the first shot and second shot fit —
it is keeping that accuracy stable through every production cycle.

At Alpine Mold, we support custom 2K mold manufacturing and two-shot injection molding production for automotive, electronics, consumer, and industrial applications.

This is how they make fan blades with PERFECT symmetry.

What you’re watching is EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) — the “black magic” of manufacturing.
No blades, no cutting. Just controlled electrical sparks (up to 10,000°C) vaporizing metal, copying the shape of the copper electrode into the mold.

The result? Complex, flawless cavities that even the best CNC machines struggle to reach. This is how mass-produced fans get their quiet, balanced blades.

Lifter core pulling is where many mold designs get complicated.

For parts with side holes, ribs, clips, or hidden undercuts,
a standard ejector is not enough.

The real challenge is:

✔ Choosing the right pulling direction
✔ Leaving enough space for lifter movement
✔ Avoiding interference during mold opening
✔ Controlling the stroke accurately
✔ Protecting the part surface during release

A small mistake in lifter design can lead to scratches, sticking, deformation, or even mold damage.

In mold design, the lifter is not just an ejector —
it is a carefully controlled motion system.

At Alpine Mold, we design lifter structures based on real product geometry, not guesswork.

How to solve weld lines on thick-wall PMMA parts?

PMMA molding is not just about raising temperature or pressure.

For thick-wall acrylic parts, weld lines and folding marks often come from unstable flow and improper injection speed control.

In this case, the key points were:

✔ Stable low-speed injection
✔ Smooth needle valve opening
✔ Slow-to-fast injection speed transition
✔ Proper holding pressure and longer cooling time
✔ Mold temperature around 70°C
✔ Barrel temperature around 230°C
✔ PMMA drying at 80°C for 3 hours

For thick PMMA parts, patience is important.
A small process adjustment can make a big difference in surface quality.

At Alpine Mold, we focus on mold design, process optimization, and stable production — not just making the mold.

Most designers hesitate when they see this kind of undercut.

The challenge is not only the slot —
it is the combination of an internal groove and hole structure that makes conventional collapsible core solutions impossible to release.

So the mold structure had to be redesigned.

Our solution:

✔ Split the area into two inner retracting sliders
✔ Add a movable core to release the critical feature first
✔ Use delay blocks to create enough retreat space
✔ Allow the sliders to retract inward only after the core has cleared the undercut

This sequence solves the demolding problem without forcing the part or damaging the undercut area.

For complex mold design,
the key is not adding more mechanisms —
it is making every movement happen in the right order.

At Alpine Mold, we take on challenging mold structures that require real engineering judgment.

One electrode. Multiple cavities. More consistency.

This is rotary EDM machining for repeated cavity features.

Instead of resetting and aligning each cavity separately,
the rotary table indexes each position for continuous EDM processing.

Why it matters:

✔ Same electrode
✔ Same EDM parameters
✔ Less repeated setup
✔ Better cavity-to-cavity consistency
✔ Higher machining efficiency

For multi-cavity molds, consistency is not only about design.
It starts from how each cavity is machined.

At Alpine Mold, we use the right process to reduce variation before the mold reaches production.
