Downy mildew and late blight are caused by fungi from the Mastigomycotina subphylum. Fungal spores overwinter in crop debris left in fields. Control Tips for Pear Psylla: Timing and Insecticide Selection​
1. Dormant Break Period​
The peak emergence occurs when pear bud scales begin to show white. Overwintering nymphs and eggs are vulnerable at this stage. Spraying on sunny, calm days between 11:00–15:00 helps reduce the pest population early.
✅ Recommended insecticides: Spirotetramat, Pyriproxyfen, Thiamethoxam, Imidacloprid, Buprofezin, Abamectin, Deltamethrin, Chlorpyrifos.
2. Petal Fall (80–95% flowers dropped)​
This is the key timing​ for controlling the 1st generation of nymphs. Young nymphs produce little honeydew and are exposed, making them easier to target.
💡 Spray focuses on the base of tender leaves.

3. Late period
