How to restore factory accuracy of worm gearbox
The backlash, also known as the return clearance, is defined as follows: fix the input end, rotate the output end clockwise and counterclockwise,when the output end withstands a ± 2% of the rated torque, there is a slight angular displacement at the gearbox output end. This angular displacement is the backlash, that is "backlash gap".
In the gearbox applications, backlash is a very important parameter. The smaller the backlash, the higher the accuracy. 《Step 1. Tool Preparation：dial indicator with its base, back clearance measuring rod, adjustment tool, torque wrench》
《Step 2. the center distance between the dial indicator and the worm gear is 103mm. Press the measuring rod lightly, and the dial indicator shows 0.19mm. This means the return clearance between the worm gear and the worm is 0.19mm (runout 0.03mm is 1 Arc minute)》
《Step 3. remove the end cover screws from both sides of the gearbox at the same time,rotate the adjustment tool clockwise by one position (from position I to position II), then tighten the end cover screws to ensure they meet the torque requirements.》
《Step 4. press the measuring rod lightly, the dial indicator shows 0.03mm,if the backlash is more than 0.05mm (tested standard≤0.05mm),please repeat operations of Figure 3 till the backlash data meet the requirement.》
《Step 5. CYCM series high precision adjustable worm gearboxes are with 3 times at least to adjust the backlash to restore factory accuracy to reduce the use cost.》
