Capillary-based remote seal systems in Differential Pressure Flow Measurement depend on a stable fill fluid.

That stability is temperature dependent.
As temperature increases, the fill fluid expands.
As temperature drops, it contracts.

This leads to:

Zero shift at the transmitter
Apparent pressure change without any process change
Drift that follows ambient or process temperature

In long capillaries, the effect is amplified due to the larger fluid volume.

To resolve keep both capillaries at the same temperature and minimize exposure differences.

If the thermal condition is not controlled, the error will persist regardless of calibration.

A calibrated instrument is not proof of a correct installation.
You can calibrate a transmitter perfectly on the bench.

Where you get zero correct. Span correct. Output is stable.
Then you install it, and the process reading is wrong.

You know why?

Because calibration checks the device.
It does not check how the device is installed.

In the field, measurement depends on more than calibration:

It depends more also on:

• Mounting location
• Process tapping point
• Impulse line condition
• Orientation and elevation
• Environmental effects

A transmitter can pass calibration and still give a false reading if the process connection is wrong.
This is why some problems never go away, even after repeated calibration.

Nothing is wrong with the instrument. The problem is how it sees the process.

If recalibration does not fix the issue, stop adjusting the instrument and start checking the installation.

This is it, calibration proves the instrument works.

Installation determines whether the measurement is true.

We are basically saying:
Valve position shows what the controller is doing.
Flow measurement shows what the process is doing.
Do not confuse action with result.

⬛️ 🟨 Coriolis Flow Meter

Tube: The fluid enters the meter and is typically split into two parallel tubes. These tubes are the primary measuring elements.

Coil: Located at the center of the tubes, it uses electromagnetic force to make the tubes vibrate (oscillate) at their natural resonant frequency.

Coils (Inlet & Outlet): These sensors are located on both sides of the drive coil. They detect the motion of the tubes and generate sine wave signals.

Thermal Device (RTD): This measures the temperature of the flow tube to compensate for changes in the tube's elasticity caused by temperature fluctuations, ensuring accuracy.

Processor: This is the "brain" of the meter. It collects signals from the pickoff coils and the RTD to calculate mass flow and density.

Connection: The flanges or fittings where the meter is physically connected to the industrial piping.

An Instrumentation Technician installs, calibrates, and maintains the instruments that measure and control those process conditions.
