🚨 Ford CEO Drops Bombshell: "We Cannot Let Chinese Automakers Into the U.S."
Ford CEO Jim Farley just delivered his most explosive warning yet about Chinese cars—and it’s sending shockwaves through the global auto industry.
Speaking live on Fox News’ Fox & Friends on April 13th, Farley didn’t mince words:
“Manufacturing is the heart and soul of America. If we lose manufacturing to these imports, it will be devastating for the country. We cannot let them into the United States.”
Bloomberg calls this his toughest attack on Chinese automakers to date. Farley claims Chinese companies benefit from massive government subsidies that create an “unfair playing field,” and also raised vague national security concerns—arguments that echo the growing protectionist wave sweeping the U.S. auto sector.
Here’s the reality right now:
✅ The U.S. already slaps a 100% tariff on Chinese-made EVs, effectively blocking brands like BYD and Xiaomi from selling directly to American consumers
✅ But Chinese EVs are dominating global markets—BYD alone holds 70% of Mexico’s electric and plug-in hybrid market
✅ Canada just struck a deal allowing 49,000 Chinese EVs per year into the country with just a 6.1% tariff
Farley’s biggest fear? That these affordable, tech-packed Chinese cars will cross the border from Canada into the U.S. He’s even pushing to make blocking Chinese vehicles a top priority in the upcoming USMCA trade agreement renegotiations.
It’s a stunning reversal from the “free trade” rhetoric the U.S. has championed for decades.
What do you think? Should countries protect their domestic auto industries and jobs at all costs? Or do open markets give consumers better choices and drive faster innovation for everyone? Let’s debate in the comments!
