China’s largest deep-sea cable-laying vessel has officially commenced construction — marking a new competitive edge for Far East Submarine Cable in deep-sea engineering services.

The groundbreaking ceremony for Far East Submarine Cable’s large-capacity multi-purpose cable-laying vessel was held at ZPMC Marine Engineering in Shanghai. Measuring 148m in length, 38m in width, and 11m in depth, with a maximum operating depth of 150m, the vessel is China’s first cable-layer equipped with a DP2 dynamic positioning system that truly achieves ring-network operation. Upon completion, Far East Submarine Cable will extend its capabilities from cable manufacturing to precision deep-sea installation, achieving self-reliance in deep-sea engineering construction equipment.

This is not just an equipment upgrade — it is a critical step toward the deep integration of smart manufacturing and services.
