🔋 Series Hybrid
The engine does not directly drive the wheels but functions solely as a generator supplying power to the electric motor. Its advantage lies in the engine operating consistently within an optimal efficiency range, resulting in excellent fuel economy, especially suited for low-speed urban conditions.
🔋 Parallel Hybrid
Both the engine and electric motor can independently or jointly drive the wheels. This setup offers quick power response and a simple structure, making it suitable for high-speed driving. However, the engine must perform efficiently across a wide operating range, and control complexity is higher.

Built upon the series-parallel architecture, PHEVs feature larger battery packs and external charging capability, enabling short-distance pure electric driving and significantly reducing fuel consumption. The increased battery weight and cost are notable challenges.
