Why use crepe paper in a 12,500 kVA / 10 kV electric furnace transformer? 🤔

This video shows the conductor insulation wrapping process for a 12,500 kVA / 10 kV electric furnace transformer currently in production at Winley Electric.

Electric furnace transformers operate under frequent load changes and demanding short-circuit conditions. Insulation around conductor bends, lead exits and electrical connection areas therefore requires careful control.

During this stage of transformer manufacturing, insulating crepe paper is wrapped around the conductor. Its flexible and extensible structure follows tight bends and changing contours more easily, helping maintain continuous and even insulation coverage.

Electric furnace transformers are widely used in steel mills, foundries, ferroalloy plants and other metallurgical facilities supplying high-current furnace loads.

Substation Transformers for Your Long-Term Projects: 12-Week Lead Time & OEM Support

Planning a large grid upgrade or a new substation build? The transformer you choose today will shape your supply chain for years.

Here's the reality many project managers run into: You need a 34.5kV substation transformer that meets ANSI/IEEE standards, but the lead times from traditional suppliers stretch to 80–120 weeks. That kind of wait can throw off budgets, delay commissioning, and strain your relationship with end users.

What if you had a manufacturing partner that could ship a fully compliant, UL-listed substation transformer in just 12 weeks? That's exactly what Winley Electric offers.

Winley Electric is a transformer manufacturer rated at 145kV and below, headquartered in Xiamen, China, with facilities in Shanghai and Guangdong. The company has been producing ANSI/IEEE/CSA/DOE-compliant substation transformers since 2014.

**Why distributors and EPC firms come back for repeat orders:**

- **Lead time that matches tight schedules** – Average production cycle of 12 weeks, compared to the 80–120 week norm in North America. While you're waiting for other quotes, your Winley units can already be on the water.
- **Standards you can certify** – All substation transformers meet ANSI C57, IEEE, DOE efficiency, and UL standards. No chasing additional compliance after arrival.
- **Cost advantage without corner‑cutting** – 20–30% lower than US factory pricing, with the same material quality (copper, aluminum, steel).
- **OEM/ODM built exactly to your specs** – Need special bushings? A specific enclosure (NEMA 3R, NEMA 4X)? Custom secondary voltages? Winley's engineering team – 35 engineers strong – designs and builds to your drawings. They handle everything from core design to final testing, making them a true OEM/ODM partner.
- **Quality baked into the process** – Mandatory hold‑points are set at irreversible stages. Every unit passes lightning impulse testing, routine factory tests, and a pre‑shipment acceptance test. No shortcuts.

For a recent 1000 kVA substation transformer order, the complete cycle – from drawing approval to FOB delivery – was 12 weeks. That's the kind of reliability that keeps your project on track.

**One thing we don't do:** oversell. Winley Electric doesn't promise 4‑week miracles. They promise consistent 12‑week delivery, rigorous standards, and a transparent OEM/ODM process.

If you're evaluating a long‑term transformer partner for your utility substations, data centers, or solar farms – what's the biggest bottleneck you're facing right now: lead time, standards compliance, or customization flexibility? Let's talk in the comments.

Solar-Ready Pad Mounted Transformers: Custom Solutions That Fit

Ever had a solar project ready to go, only to find the transformer doesn't quite match your inverter output or grid voltage?

That's where a custom pad mounted transformer makes all the difference. Solar farms, from commercial rooftops to utility-scale plants, need a transformer that can step up inverter voltages (208V, 380V, 480V, 600V or 800V) to medium voltage levels like 13.8kV, 24.94kV or 34.5kV for grid interconnection. And they need it to handle outdoor conditions — sun, dust, humidity, temperature swings — plus the harmonics from inverters.

Winley Electric is a transformer manufacturer founded in 2014 and certified by UL and cUL, with a 45,000m² factory and over 220 employees. We build oil-immersed pad mounted transformers (single-phase and three-phase) that meet ANSI/IEEE, CSA, DOE, and NEMA standards. But the real value is in the customization.

We offer OEM and ODM transformer solutions up to 10 MVA with high-voltage systems rated up to 36 kV. That means we can tailor the electrical performance (capacity, voltage, connection group), enclosure size, protection class, insulation fluid (mineral oil, natural ester, FR3), bushings, tap changers, and even add monitoring or communication interfaces — all per your drawings or specifications. We can integrate components from brands like Qualitrott and Eaton Cooper for special designs.

Whether you need a 500kVA solar step-up transformer with dual winding or a 2550kVA unit for a large PV plant, we can deliver with lead times as short as 4–8 weeks and a minimum order of just 1 unit.

Practical takeaway: Instead of settling for an off-the-shelf transformer that almost works, get one that's built for your specific solar array, inverter setup, and grid requirement. That saves you time on site modifications and ensures better long-term efficiency.

What voltage combination are you working with for your next solar project? Drop a comment below — we're happy to share a quick feasibility check.

Substation Transformers for Data Centers: Customization Is the Key

When you're planning a new data center or expanding an existing campus, one of the most critical pieces of equipment is the substation transformer. It's the backbone that converts medium-voltage utility power to the voltages your UPS systems, cooling plants, and server halls need.

Winley Electric is a transformer manufacturer that specializes in substation power transformers rated up to 100 MVA and 145 kV. Their transformers are built to ANSI/IEEE, CSA, and DOE standards, making them a solid choice for North American projects. But what really sets them apart is the ability to customize every detail.

Whether you need a 10 MVA unit for a hyperscale data center or a 300 kVA transformer for an edge site, Winley Electric offers OEM and ODM manufacturing. This means you can specify the exact capacity, voltage ratio, winding configuration, impedance, loss levels, cooling method, tap-changing system, terminal arrangement, and even preferred component brands like Qualitrol or MR. They can also integrate customer-specified components to match your maintenance preferences and project standards.

Data center transformers face unique challenges: 24/7 operation, high load density, harmonic loads from UPS systems, and the need for high reliability and low noise. Winley Electric's substation transformers are designed with these in mind, offering features like NEMA 4X enclosures, low-loss cores, and condition monitoring options. They also support dual-source supply and N+1 redundancy configurations.

Lead times matter. For transformers below 10 MVA, production takes around 8-10 weeks; for 10-40 MVA units, 10-12 weeks; and for 40-100 MVA, 18-20 weeks. Each unit undergoes comprehensive routine testing (winding resistance, turns ratio, polarity, no-load loss) before delivery, and every transformer comes with a 24-month warranty.

If you're evaluating substation transformers for your data center project and want a solution that fits your exact specs without waiting months for standard models, Winley Electric could be the partner you need.
