A hydraulic gear pump can look correct, bolt into place, and still fail to build pressure. One common reason is simple but expensive: its rotation does not match the machine.

Before replacing the pump, check it from the shaft end. Confirm clockwise or counterclockwise rotation, locate the suction and pressure ports, and compare the fl**ge, shaft, displacement, and dimensions. On compatible designs, rotation may be converted by changing the internal orientation and rotating the housing. Bearing blocks, seals, housing, and bolts must return to the correct position.
