Fused Magnesia (FM) is manufactured by melting high-quality magnesite or light-burned magnesia in an electric arc furnace at temperatures over 2800°C, followed by controlled cooling to form large periclase crystals.
Key Technical Parameters & Advantages:
✅ Ultra-high purity (MgO typically ≥97–99%) with minimal impurities
✅ Large crystal size and dense microstructure from electrofusion process
✅ Superior slag resistance and chemical stability against alkaline slags
✅ Excellent high-temperature strength and thermal shock resistance
✅ Lower porosity and higher bulk density compared to sintered magnesia
✅ Outstanding performance in harsh steelmaking and cement kiln environments
Widely used as the primary raw material for high-grade magnesia bricks, magnesia-carbon bricks, magnesia-chrome bricks, and monolithic refractories in steel ladles, converters, cement rotary kilns, and glass furnaces. Contact us for technical data sheets and customized grades.
