We are pleased to announce that we have been selected for Phase 2 of the AHEAD Program! On May 9th, we pitched in the city of Leipzig to secure our place in the next phase. AHEAD is a critical platform between the Fraunhofer Institute and global entrepreneurship ecosystems and supports deep tech entrepreneurs in bringing innovative technology to market.

Along with our partner Fraunhofer IESE, we are working to integrate an AI component that improves the data quality used in our disaster risk reduction software, Acction. This will not only increase Acction’s potential, helping to save more lives and provide a better response to disasters, but also allow it to reach even more cities worldwide.

Clurb certainly lives by that motto, reason why we are always happy to keep on collaborating with our good partners in GIZ - The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit- in different opportunities, always in great company of Luciana Maia.
Since early 2023 we have been working within the Turboclic initiative, developing and implementing a state-of-the-art training on net-zero and resilient cities to support GIZ programmes across Asia, also keeping abreast of the great work they perform in the ground and understanding how our tools can support those efforts!
The project will run until end of 2023, so keep an eye for more updates to come.

We're excited that Clurb has been selected as one of the nineteen participants in the prestigious BrazilLab GovTech Acceleration program in its 7th batch. This is a significant achievement for us as we've been investing in the Brazilian market and striving to expand our business in this region, building on our success in the IdeiaGov accelerator program last year.
As one of world's most reputable GovTech hubs, BrazilLAB received several awards and recognitions, including the "Top Innovation Hub" award in 2020 and winning the very first global GovTech Awards in 2022. We're proud to be part of this community of innovators that share our passion for promoting innovation and entrepreneurship with and for cities.

With the holiday season upon us, we have found ourselves reflecting on the past year and those who helped shape our business. Last week we had the amazing opportunity to host a session at the conference and introduce our application on a global stage! Our team had a wonderful experience and we left the conference with some very promising connections with different institutions working with cities globally. We are honored to announce that we have been invited to speak at the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP27). Our session is being organized by the UN Climate Change Global Innovation Hub which is responsible for working with innovators and startups focused on addressing climate change.
We will be presenting our disaster risk management app which was made to help cities and communities work together in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters and crises. We look forward to introducing our software on a global stage so that we can continue our work of helping cities and communities across the world become more resilient when facing our uncertain future.

Our team was thrilled to recently take part in the acceleration program! A recent article by the , describes the importance of mobile devices in building to disasters and crises.

One of the key insights explains that: “Mobile apps with a community focus can build social capital and community resilience, as local EWS have been observed to work better when the community has organized groups that address disaster preparedness and response proactively.”

Acction is our response to the different types of adversities and that can occur in a community, both natural and man-made. But currently, only 4% of cities have a disaster warning system.

One of the first applications of was in Honduras, back in 2019. Now we are back, in collaboration with the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, to carry out the analysis of the aggravated threats, root causes and risk factors that led to the 2020 humanitarian emergency as a result of the hurricanes Eta and Iota.

The goal of the study is to explore how to improve institutional response to such disasters, in particular considering the combined effects of violence, dengue epidemic, floods, migration and political instability.

The results will be published by the The ‘s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery and will contribute for our ongoing efforts in improving the algorithms of our tool for increased risk assessment and response capabilities.
