We are standing right at the edge of history, and we’re thrilled to be part of the team driving a true revolution in robotic mobility and manipulation!

Nathaniel Swenson represented us at the PVA Summit alongside Partners in Medicine this week to connect with clinicians, veteran end-users, and industry pioneers. Beyond sharing our current Jaco, we introduced attendees to the ARPA-H RAMMP project—an initiative using physical AI, advanced sensing, and robotics to unlock a whole new era of human independence.

Building the future takes an extraordinary lineup, and that’s exactly who we're partnering with. We’re proud to work side-by-side with our booth neighbors at HERL—the legendary Human Engineering Research Laboratories founded by Dr. Rory Cooper (PI on the RAMMP project)—and ATDev CEO Todd Roberts. Together with innovators, researchers, and ATDev co-founder Owen Kent (who happens to be a Jaco user himself!), this team is shaping the next chapter of assistive technology.

Nathaniel Swenson nous a représentés au Sommet de la PVA aux côtés de Partners in Medicine cette semaine afin de créer des liens avec des cliniciens, des utilisateurs vétérans et des pionniers de l'industrie. En plus de présenter notre Jaco actuel, nous avons fait découvrir aux participants le projet RAMMP de l'ARPA-H — une initiative exploitant l'IA physique, la détection avancée et la robotique pour ouvrir une toute nouvelle ère d'indépendance humaine.

Bâtir l'avenir exige une équipe extraordinaire, et c'est exactement avec ces partenaires que nous collaborons. Nous sommes fiers de travailler côte à côte avec nos voisins de kiosque du HERL — les légendaires Human Engineering Research Laboratories fondés par le Dr Rory Cooper (chercheur principal du projet RAMMP) — et le PDG d'ATDev, Todd Roberts. Ensemble, avec des innovateurs, des chercheurs et le cofondateur d'ATDev, Owen Kent (qui est lui-même un utilisateur du Jaco !), cette équipe façonne le prochain chapitre des technologies d'assistance.

Three and a half million power wheelchair users in the U.S. — and a wheelchair technology that hasn’t kept pace with the phone in your pocket. 🦼

ATDev just shared an update on RAMMP: a modern power wheelchair paired with a coordinated robotic arm, so users can reach, lift, open a door or pick up a glass on their own terms. The program is funded by ARPA-H and led by the University of Pittsburgh.

Kinova contributes the manipulation side of the platform — that’s our Gen3 ultra-lightweight arm you see on the chair. 🦾

What resonates most with us is their “spectrum of autonomy”: the user decides, moment to moment, how much assistance they want. After 20 years building assistive robotic arms, we know that’s exactly where the value sits — not in taking control away, but in giving it back.

ATDev vient de partager une mise à jour sur le projet RAMMP : un fauteuil roulant motorisé moderne combiné à un bras robotique coordonné, permettant aux utilisateurs d'atteindre, de soulever, d'ouvrir une porte ou de prendre un verre en toute autonomie. Le programme est financé par l'ARPA-H et dirigé par l'Université de Pittsburgh.

Kinova fournit la partie manipulation de la plateforme — c'est notre bras ultra-léger Gen3 que vous voyez sur le fauteuil. 🦾

Ce qui nous interpelle le plus, c'est leur concept de « spectre d'autonomie » : l'utilisateur décide, d'un moment à l'autre, du niveau d'assistance souhaité. Après 20 ans à concevoir des bras robotiques d'assistance, nous savons que c'est exactement là que réside toute la valeur — non pas en retirant le contrôle, mais en le redonnant.

Willkommen in der Jaco-Familie, Fabian! 🥳

Zu sehen, wie Fabian mit seinem neuen Jaco-Arm die volle Kontrolle über seinen Alltag übernimmt, ist genau das, was uns jeden Tag antreibt. Ob es darum geht, sich selbst ein Glas Wasser zu holen oder den Tag mit neu gewonnener Freiheit zu gestalten – hier dreht sich alles darum, eine ganz neue Welt der persönlichen Unabhängigkeit zu eröffnen.

Ein ganz besonderes Dankeschön geht an Michael und Volker für eine weitere reibungslose Installation in Deutschland. Ihr Engagement, Tag für Tag mehr Selbstbestimmung zum Leben zu erwecken, ist einfach unglaublich.

We often talk about bringing independence to people with disabilities, but assistive tech encompasses more than that: it is driven by the fundamental belief that autonomous living is a human right, meaning it is for absolutely anyone who just needs a little helping hand to live life on their own terms. 👍

Which is why we have robots like OBI!

Take Audrey, a resident at a long-term care home in Victoria, who shared how much it has changed her daily routine. In her own words: “It makes mealtimes fun and it’s great entertainment for my tablemates.” 🍝

We absolutely love hearing this because it is a beautiful reminder that assistive tech doesn't just provide physical support—it brings joy, connection, and dignity. 💙

Nous parlons souvent d'apporter de l'indépendance aux personnes en situation de handicap, mais les technologies d'assistance vont bien au-delà : elles sont portées par la conviction fondamentale que vivre de manière autonome est un droit humain. Cela signifie qu'elles s'adressent absolument à quiconque a simplement besoin d'un petit coup de pouce pour vivre sa vie selon ses propres règles. 👍

C'est exactement pour cela que des robots comme OBI existent !

Prenez l'exemple d'Audrey, résidente dans un centre de soins de longue durée à Victoria, qui a partagé à quel point cela a transformé son quotidien. Selon ses propres mots : « Ça rend les repas amusants et c'est un excellent divertissement pour mes voisins de table. » 🍝

Nous adorons entendre ce genre de témoignage, car il rappelle magnifiquement que les technologies d'assistance ne fournissent pas seulement un soutien physique — elles apportent aussi de la joie, du lien social et de la dignité. 💙
