🏆 This year's awards include two exclusive telescopes signed by astronaut Frank De Winne and Nobel Prize laureates Francois Englert, Gerard 't Hooft, Michel Mayor, and Didier Queloz. 🔭 We proudly introduce some of these outstanding figures whose signatures mark these prestigious awards:

Michel Mayor is a Swiss astrophysicist whose pioneering work revolutionized our understanding of the universe. In 1995, together with his doctoral student Didier Queloz, he discovered 51 Pegasi b, the first exoplanet orbiting a sun-like star outside our solar system. This discovery opened an entirely new field of astronomical research and has since led to the detection of thousands of exoplanets, changing our view of the cosmos and fueling the search for potentially habitable worlds. Awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2019, Mayor has devoted his career to advancing observational astrophysics and developing techniques to detect planets beyond our solar system. His relentless curiosity and innovative methods have not only expanded humanity’s knowledge but also captured the imagination of scientists and dreamers worldwide, inspiring a new era of exploration.

🔭 Astronomical Event: Full Blue Moon
📅 Date: May 31, 2026

A Blue Moon is the rare occurrence of a second full moon within a single calendar month, giving rise to the phrase "once in a blue moon." This unusual event happens roughly every 2-3 years and signifies that 2026 will have 13 full moons instead of the typical 12. Despite its name, the moon won't appear blue in color—it remains its characteristic golden or silver hue.

For astronomers and lunar observers, a Blue Moon is a culturally and calendrically interesting event rather than a unique visual phenomenon. It serves as a reminder of the fascinating interplay between lunar cycles and our calendar system, offering an excellent opportunity for public outreach and lunar surface observation.

✉️ We'd love to see your view of the sky: Feel free to send us your photos by e-mail and be part of our global astronomy community: [email protected]
