About MATE

The Marine Advanced Technology Education (MATE) Center is a national partnership of educational institutions and organizations working to improve marine technical education and to meet the workplace needs of marine-related workforce and employers. Headquartered at Monterey Peninsula College in the USA, the MATE Center is one of eleven Advanced Technological Education (ATE) Centers esta

blished with funding from the National Science Foundation's ATE Program. The MATE Center's mission is to help prepare the future workforce for ocean-related occupations. The MATE Center utilizes information from employers to improve and develop educational programs with a focus on marine technology. The Center focuses on community college education and the creation of strong links between community colleges and high schools, technical schools, research institutions, and industry, government, military, and labor organizations. Identify industry needs and develop industry guidelines for curriculum development

🚨 OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION SUBMISSION ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨

The MATE ROV Egypt Regional Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the official opening of documentation submission for all participating teams in the 2026 competition.

All registered teams are required to submit their documentation based on their respective competition class.

Each class has its own official submission form, aligned with MATE ROV International standards.

Depending on the competition class, teams are required to submit the following documents:

✅ Technical Report
✅ Corporate Responsibility Document
✅ Company Specification Sheet
✅ System Integration Diagram (SID)
✅ Fluid Diagram
✅ JSEA (Job Safety and Environmental Analysis)

Our Story

MATE Egypt Regional ROV competition is an annual local competition which is held in Egypt for who are interested in the remotely operated underwater robots that were firstly launched on 2011 by Delta Square in association with the Arab Academy for science and technology “AASTMT”, as ROVs perform underwater specific missions according to certain rules and guiding manual. This competition is considered a qualifying round for the international competition organized by the marine advanced technology education “MATE” Center as only eligible teams are to represent the Arab world at international MATE ROV competition.

MATE Egypt Regional ROV Competition total participants of almost +3500 competitor until 2019 from +20 different universities, +10 different schools with a total of 450 ROVs were built.

Egyptian representatives were crowned first and third places at the MATE ROV international finals in 2018 and the second place in 2019.
