Location: Inside and outside Cairo, Egypt

Job Description:

We are looking for a qualified Inspection Engineer to join our team on a permanent basis. The ideal candidate will oversee and execute advanced Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) operations, ensuring adherence to international asset integrity and welding standards.

Requirements & Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 3+ years of hands-on experience as an Inspection Engineer.

Technical Expertise: Proven experience working with 5 NDT Methods, with strong proficiency and advanced knowledge in:
- PAUT (Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing)
- MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage)

Certifications: Level II certifications in the relevant methods are required.
Skills: Strong capabilities in data analysis, reporting and equipment calibration

🚨 MFL Technical notes to consider Before-During-After inspection

The MFL detects changes in magnetic flux lines produced when a ferromagnetic material is magnetized. If there is loss of metal (corrosion, pitting, gouges), the magnetic field leaks outward and is picked up by sensors.

𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗩𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗙𝗟 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆
A. Material Variables
- Steel grade and permeability
- Plate/floor thickness
- Weld/HAZ magnetic variability
- Coating type (if any)

B. Magnetization Variables
- Magnet strength
- Saturation level (optimal: >85% of magnetic saturation)
- Lift-off distance (sensor–surface)

C. Scanning Variables
- Scan speed (typical: 0.5 – 1 m/s)
- Overlap coverage (10–20%)
- Orientation relative to defects
- Axial vs circumferential scanning (for pipelines)

These variables significantly affect the probability of detection (PoD).

𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘀 & 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮
A. Typical Probability of Detection (PoD)
- Corrosion ≥ 20% metal loss: 80–95%
- Corrosion ≥ 40% metal loss: >95%
- Sharp cracks: very low PoD (MFL is NOT crack-sensitive)

B. Sizing Accuracy
- Depth sizing error: ±10–20% depending on calibration
- Lateral sizing error: ±5–15 mm

C. Recommended Calibration Standards
- ASME
- API 653 (for tank floors)
- ISO 21749

𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁-𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗲𝗰𝗸𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁
Before MFL Testing:
- Verify magnetization strength and battery health.
- Confirm floor plate thickness map.
- Perform sensor lift-off check.
- Check temperature limits (MFL is sensitive to heat).
- Define minimum detectable defect size for the job.

During MFL Testing:
- Maintain constant speed—signals distort if too fast.
- Ensure overlap accuracy using encoder or laser guide.
- Continuously monitor saturation indicators.
- Avoid scanning over standing water or loose scale.
- Validate real-time anomalies using reference standards.

After MFL Testing:
- Verify anomalies using UT spot checks (API 653 requirement).
- Apply severity classification: Minor - Moderate - Severe (major metal loss)
- Produce digital mapping with: GPS / coordinate grid - Plate breakdown - Heat map (if using advanced scanners)
- Archive raw and interpreted data.

Up to 70% of MFL accuracy depends on preparation, procedure, and equipment configuration.

Correct surface prep and magnetization control are the biggest contributors to PoD.
