🐠Successfully breeding of chaetodontidae, Heniochus acuminatus is a remarkable achievement.

Known for their striking appearance, these fish are iconic inhabitants of coral reefs. However, they are notoriously difficult to breed in captivity, requiring a great deal of time, effort, and expertise. This success marks an important milestone, as it opens the door to sustainable aquaculture practices that can reduce the need for wild collection.🐠

This partnership allows to present an increasing number of captive bred fish within Nausicaà’ exhibitions. Sardines have joined a tank designed to illustrate the shoaling phenomenon as for example the « Sardine Run » which is a well-known migration of millions of South African sardines for reproduction.

Juveniles of Selene vomer are fascinating. Rearing the Lookdown can be easily achieved with the addition of copepods in the first week of larval development. The post larvae evolve under the surface of the estuarine zones with their very long dorsal fin to deceive their predator.
