PIPING / MECHANICAL ENGINEER
Location: Mauritania

Start Date: August / September 2026
Duration: Approximately 4–5 months
Rotation: 2 months on / 2 weeks off
Rate: Approximately USD 350 per working day (depending on experience)
Our client is seeking experienced Piping / Mechanical Engineers to support the construction of a major water supply system for a mining operation in Mauritania.
The successful candidate will be involved in the site construction, installation, supervision and commissioning of mechanical and piping systems associated with water transmission and distribution infrastructure.
Responsibilities
• Supervise mechanical and piping construction activities on site
• Ensure works are completed in accordance with project specifications, drawings and procedures
• Review and interpret P&IDs, isometrics and construction drawings
• Coordinate contractors and subcontractors
• Monitor installation of pipelines, pumps, valves and associated equipment
• Support testing, commissioning and handover activities
• Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and project quality standards
• Produce progress reports and participate in project meetings
Requirements
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 5 years' experience in mechanical and piping construction projects
• Strong site-based construction experience
• Experience with water infrastructure, utilities, industrial or mining projects
• Good knowledge of pumps, pipelines, valves and mechanical systems
• Ability to work in remote international project environments
• Fluent English communication skills
Desirable
• Mining industry experience
• Previous experience in Africa or remote camp-based projects
• French language skills
• EPC contractor background
Package
• Rotation: 2 months on / 2 weeks off
• Duration: 4–5 months
• Competitive daily rate of approximately USD 350/day depending on experience
