A new addition to Rovian Construction Ltd!
We’ve recently added a tipper to help make material deliveries and waste removal from our jobs that bit easier and more efficient.
It might not stay this clean for long, but it’ll certainly make life easier!

This one turned into a much bigger job than expected but have a look at the results.

We arrived expecting to carry out a straightforward re-roof, but once the original slates and battens were removed, we found that the roof timbers had been severely affected by woodworm. The damage was extensive, leaving the existing roof structure unsafe and unsuitable to build back onto.

After showing the customer what we had uncovered, we agreed the only proper option was to take the roof structure down and rebuild it.

We fitted a completely new treated timber roof structure, followed by breathable membrane, new battens, natural slates and a full new dry ridge. We also renewed the leadwork where the roof meets the stone wall and finished everything off with new fascia boards and guttering.

We also renewed the small lean-to roof, which was originally covered with asbestos-cement sheets and had poorly formed lead flashings. Once the asbestos roof covering had been removed by others, we installed a new EPDM rubber roofing system and renewed the necessary weatherproofing details, giving the roof a clean and reliable finished result.

It certainly wasn’t the job we expected when we started, but it was important that it was done properly rather than covering over a serious problem.

A little progress update from one of our current roof projects... 🔨🏠

This one actually started off as what we thought was going to be a straightforward re-slate. Once we got the old slates off and had a proper look at the roof, we found that a lot of the existing timbers had been badly affected by woodworm.

After talking everything through with the customer, we all agreed that the best option was to replace the roof structure properly rather than put a new roof on top of timber that had reached the end of its life.

The lads have absolutely smashed it this week, getting the old roof stripped off and the new roof structure built. It's always nice seeing a job come back together after it's been taken right back.

Still plenty to do, but we're well on our way now. Looking forward to getting it slated and showing you all the finished result! 👌

It's been a little while since I've posted on here, but behind the scenes it's been business as usual.

Over the past few months I've been focused on delivering projects and haven't given this page the attention it deserves. That's about to change, as I'll be sharing more of the work we've been completing and giving a better insight into what we do at Rovian Construction.

Stripped back and rebuilt properly.

Small rubber roof repair carried out on a bay window roof that had ongoing water ingress.

The original lead covering was removed fully as the deck underneath had seen better days. A new deck was installed to give it a solid base, followed by EPDM rubber and new lead flashings to finish it off properly.

All watertight and good to go.
