We are working with the Newlyn FISH Trust to bring this extraordinary Grade II Listed Former Ice Works building back to life and secure its future as a fishing heritage centre and community hub.

The Newlyn FISH Trust have put together a fantastic video highlighting the importance of this historical building. The link for this can be found on our LinkedIn page or the trusts website.

A great couple of days surveying Eastnor Castle. It is a fascinating building with lots of history, beautiful surroundings and some exciting features (for a structural engineer!) such as very slender iron roof trusses.

Yesterday Integral went down to the newly branded ‘BEAM’ in Hertford to celebrate the sectional completion of the project. The space comprises of three new CLT cinema spaces, a cantilevered steel balcony to the main auditorium and several new spaces overlooking the river. Not too long now until the official opening! Thanks for showing us around

This week saw the return of the Integral away day where we all down our usual tools for the day. This year they were swapped for bows & arrows, axes and knives for a morning session of aiming and throwing – most of which found their targets! After a restorative canal boat ride we turned our hands to a session of chocolate making. It soon became apparent that some of those hands were a bit too hot for the task, but on the whole, most resembled edible confectionery!

Thank you to Roger & Al and to Louise for making it a great day.

It was great to see the progress of the refurbishment of the Grade II-Listed Trowbridge Town Hall yesterday hosted by , .construct and .architecture.

Opened in 1889, over the years the Town Hall has served as the local Magistrates Court, Coroner’s Court and County Court as well as a major public venue for civic occasions. The refurbishment work will enable the building to become a modern hub and live music venue for the town.

Alongside major roof repairs, it was interesting to see how the trusses in the Great Ballroom have been strengthened to accommodate the increased weight of the roof resulting from acoustic improvements. Hearing about the complexities of modernising the building from oil powered to electric as well as incorporating the ventilation requirements in an existing building was fascinating as was the concept of the existing court cells in the basement being reused as recording studios for local artists; the cell bars have even been retained in places!

Every day’s a school day, they say. It certainly is for one of our directors, Grant, who’s tutoring at the University of the West of England (UWE). You can find him working with the 4th year students at UWE Bristol on the architectural and planning course this term.

At Integral, we love to be able to give back and develop the raising generation of engineers and construction professionals. It is always a pleasure to be part of the teaching process, and learn a thing or two along the way!

Integral have taken a day to all get together and discuss ‘business’. Our annual Business Day provides us the opportunity, away from screens, to think and talk about wider topics. Today’s activities included a global trading game and a fun yet competitive design competition with a difference! We enjoy spending time together and there has been plenty of conversation and laughing throughout the day.
