🚧 We’re Hiring: Access Engineer Apprentice (Based in Dudley) 🚧

Are you looking to kickstart a hands-on career in the access and plant hire industry? We’re looking for a motivated Access Engineer Apprentice to join our growing team at Lathams Plant Hire in Dudley.

You’ll be learning the ropes of maintaining and repairing access equipment such as scissor lifts, booms, and other plant hire machinery — working alongside experienced engineers and gaining real-world technical skills.

🔧 What You’ll Be Doing:
• Assisting with the servicing, inspection, and repair of access and plant hire equipment
• Learning to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults
• Supporting the hire team to keep equipment safe, reliable, and ready for customers

📘 What We’re Looking For:
• A keen interest in engineering and machinery
• A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn
• Basic mechanical or electrical knowledge is a bonus (but not essential!)
• Full UK driving licence (or working towards one)

🎅 Closing Dates Over Christmas 🎅

As we end our last full operating week before the end of the year, we wanted to send a thank you to all our customers for your loyalty and support in our first full year of trading, we look forward to working with you on your hire requirements in the new year!

Like many businesses, our office will be closed over the Christmas and New Year period. This year our offices will be closing at 12:00 Noon on December 24th and reopening January 2nd.

During this time our normal phones lines won't be answered, however for emergency hire/ repair needs call 01384 465238 to get through to our on call engineering team working over the Festive period.

This is a unique opportunity to start a new career or add to your existing training portfolio. 💼 As a certified IPAF instructor, you'll be qualified to deliver training on a wide range of powered access equipment.

Let me explain what's involved in becoming an IPAF instructor. First, you'll need existing experience operating various types of powered access equipment. During the intensive 5-day course, you'll learn how to plan, prepare and deliver the IPAF training courses. You'll cover everything from theory presentations to practical demonstrations.

If you're interested in teaching others how to safely and efficiently operate powered access equipment, IPAF Instructor Training is for you. Spaces are limited, so sign up today! The investment is £2000 + VAT for the 5-day course.

You'll need to meet the following prerequisites:

👷‍♀️ 36 months’ MEWP operating experience.
👷‍♂️ PAF Operator PAL Card held for six months minimum
👷‍♀️ IPAF Demonstrator PAL Card held for three months minimum
👷‍♂️ IPAF MEWPs for Managers course successfully completed
👷‍♀️ Evidence of Acceptable Instructional Techniques training (3 Days Min)
👷‍♂️ Successful completion of an approved Harness Instructor course.
👷‍♀️ Evidence First Aid at Work Training.

After the course you'll need to complete a minimum of 3 mentoring sessions, this can be done with any senior instructor.
