Our 17th van has joined the fleet, in the new Bespoke Builds & Interiors livery.
We've also got four new people starting over the next couple of weeks. The team and the fleet are both growing, which means more capacity to take on work across the Lakes.

Walking boots on instead of work boots, a few of us headed up Red Screes after work earlier this week. Two hours in the fells, cracking views from the top, and some well-earned rehydration at the new Kirkstone Inn to finish.
Sometimes the best end to a working day is just getting up into the hills.

A big well done to Mark for being named our March employee of the month 👏

Although Mark only joined the team relatively recently, he has already proved himself to be a brilliant addition to Oakden.

Working as site labourer at Grey Walls, Mark brings a level of energy and work ethic that never seems to stop. Always on the go, always helping, and always keeping things moving on site. It did not take long before the lads gave him the nickname “The Duracell Bunny” and anyone who has worked alongside him will understand why.

A top attitude, a great work ethic, and fully deserved recognition.

Steve is an absolute grafter and a hugely trusted member of the team. Quietly confident in his role, he gets on with the job to a consistently high standard and is someone we can always rely on.

Employee of the month | January

A big well done to Harry for being named our January employee of the month 👏

January marked a huge milestone for Harry as he became a fully qualified plumbing and heating engineer. This recognition reflects not only the hard work he has put in over the years, but also the attitude he brings to every project.

Harry is a great lad who keeps his head down, works hard, and has a real understanding of the wider project, not just his own role within it. One thing that stands out is his willingness to get stuck in and help other trades whenever needed, which says a lot about his character and team mentality.

Work is progressing well at Grey Walls,

The stud walls are up on the first and second floors, with electrical and plumbing first fix complete on both. The main structural works are now finished, and the rear flat roofs have been stripped back ready for reconstruction.

Up at the front, the scaffolding has been adjusted and we're ready to start on the new mansard roof — one of the most visible changes this building will see.

Grey Walls is a Victorian building, over 100 years old, and like a lot of properties of that age, it had asbestos in the fabric of the building. That had to be dealt with properly.

We brought in a licensed specialist removal company and closed the whole site while the works were carried out. Once they were done, we waited for independent air testing to confirm the all-clear before anyone went back in.

It cost us time on the programme. But it’s not something we’d ever cut corners on.
The site is clear now and we’re making good progress. More updates to follow as this one really starts to take shape.

We’ve recently taken on a new unit and yard locally, giving us a proper base for materials and equipment.
This is now our third site, alongside our office and design studio in Bowness.
It’s a big help for the team day to day and will make things run a lot more smoothly across our projects.

We’ve just put up new site banners at our Grey Walls project in Windermere.
They're big ones, so you won’t miss them if you’re passing by.
This project will become one of Windermere’s newest luxury aparthotels, and it’s great to start showing a bit more of what’s happening on site.
