Great news for homeowners in England! 🏡

As of May 29, 2025, new planning regulations have made it significantly easier to install air source heat pumps, especially for those with limited outdoor space.

Key changes include:

Removal of the 1m boundary rule: You can now install a heat pump right up to your property boundary without needing planning permission.

Increased size limit: The maximum permitted volume for a heat pump has increased from 0.6m³ to 1.5m³.

Allowance for multiple units: Detached homes can now install up to two heat pumps under permitted development rights.

These changes are part of the government's Warm Homes Plan, aiming to simplify the adoption of eco-friendly heating solutions and help the UK meet its target of 600,000 heat pump installations per year by 2028.
