A beautifully crafted box made here at Robinson House Studio Furniture School by our full-time student, George .furniture
Before enrolling at the school, George completed a Foundation Degree in Furniture Design & Making. He chose to join our 50-week course to refine the quality of his craftsmanship and further develop his passion for the art of fine furniture making.
This box is made from burr American black walnut and is fitted with stainless steel hinges and a suede-lined base.

We are delighted to welcome to our school in May for a one day course in the art of marquetry. Audrey is a highly experienced craftsperson and recognised as a master furniture maker for her beautiful marquetry work by the Furniture Makers Company. This is a great opportunity to learn from best ! Come and spend a day learning this beautiful craft.

This stunning piece was designed and made here by our full time student Will. He joined us after studying Industrial Design at Loughborough University and working on his own furniture and lighting projects for a year before deciding to enrol at RHS to take his skills to the highest level.
He’s planning to work within the industry as a designer/maker and to one day open up his own practice.

His box is titled ‘Chalk Paths by Night’, and is inspired by the nearby South Downs and its chalk paths that become luminous against the grasslands under moonlight, offering a surreal path guiding through the dark.

Machines in the workshop include 2 large panel table saws. Spindle moulder. 2 bandsaws. 3 router tables. Vacuum veneer press. Pillar drill. Engineering lathe. Milling machine. 2 planner thicknesses. Wide belt thickness sander. Edge sander. CNC router. Laser Cutter. Spray booth.

Beautiful drinks cabinet from one of our students Joe went on to win an award from at New Designers that year and with his next piece he was awarded a bespoke guild mark for his Gratus Bench and went on to win The Claxton Steven’s awards for 2025! Well Done 👏👏 such an achievement and testament to the level our students can achieve during a year at our furniture school learning furniture design and making.
