Good news: there's nothing exciting to report about Breathaboard's latest trial.

London has been turning up the heat, but Breathaboard is looking great on site at Legal & General's new headquarters.

And, as you can see, it's looking exactly as it should.
Flat. No drama.

Just boards doing exactly what boards are supposed to do. And honestly, that's the kind of boring we're looking for.

Breathaboard has been designed as a bio-based, drop-in alternative to conventional wallboard that meets industry performance standards.

The industry knows it needs to change. Construction is responsible for nearly 40% of global CO₂ emissions and around a third of global waste.

But adopting new technologies has often come with a catch: different product manufacturing methods, high-capex to adopt them, or different installation techniques.

We think that trade-off is the wrong starting point. The technologies and materials that will actually shift the industry are the ones that are drop-in and easy to adopt.

Swipe to see how we're approaching it. 👉

Behind every trial, partnership, and milestone are the people who make it happen day after day.

Today we want to shine a light on the researchers, engineers, thinkers, innovators, and problem-solvers working together every day to move our mission forward.

A team developing and deploying the technologies that make planet-positive building materials a reality.

This one’s for them. 🖤

We’re heading to the InstallerSHOW tomorrow!
Tim Myatt, our Head of Sales, will be joining the NHIC Knowledge Hub for the panel discussion:

Navigating Compliance in Practice
🕛 12:00pm on Tuesday 23 June | 📍 Stand 4F28

Hosted by Lucy Dixon, this session will explore the challenges installers face around compliance and how the industry can build trust through higher standards and better training pathways.

Got a question you’re hoping to get answered? Find Tim at the NHIC Access Clinics from 1pm onwards for one-to-one conversations on energy, policy and skills.

See you there!

More than 1 in 4 of us live in homes with damp, mould or cold.

According to the latest English Housing Survey, 1.4 million homes in England had a problem with damp, the highest rate in recent years.

Our technology delivers products like Breathaplasta and Breathaboard, designed with moisture regulation in mind. They are vapour-open materials that passively regulate moisture, reducing the risk of damp and mould.

"The most remarkably unremarkable board."

What do we mean by that? When we set out to develop a planet-positive and healthier alternative to plasterboard, what we wanted to achieve was a material that couldn't be distinguished from the incumbent.

One that looks the same, performs the same (or better!), and can be installed in the same way. Because only then can it be adopted at the scale needed to make a real impact.

Breathaboard has been independently tested to meet industry performance standards and has received positive feedback from contractors and installers in recent trials.

If you saw it on site… would you be able to tell the difference?

What does it take to bring material innovation into mainstream use? Performance validation in real site conditions.

That's why we're pleased to be partnering again with Overbury on a Breathaboard trial, this time at Legal & General's new London headquarters.

Installed exactly like conventional wallboard, Breathaboard has been developed as a drop-in alternative that can be adopted without changes to construction practices, helping support wider industry uptake.

To date, more than 100 projects have already registered interest, with demand exceeding £19m through LOIs and offtake agreements.

Real progress happens when innovation is matched by collaboration.

Last week, the team from and Area visited our HQ to see where our innovations come to life.

It was an opportunity to walk through how the boards being used in their latest project are made, meet the people behind them, and see the journey from material development to installation.

We're excited to be working together on Breathaboard's installation at 11 Leadenhall Street. Collaborations like this show what's possible when partners share an ambition to challenge convention and accelerate the transition to healthier buildings.

Looking forward to sharing more from the project soon.

Attending London Tech Week and interested in innovations that can transform the built environment?

Come see us at Stand 208 with Barclays UK, where we'll be showcasing how our technologies can decarbonise construction by delivering carbon-negative and healthy, drop-in materials that don't compromise on performance.

Stop by on Day 1 (June 8) to chat with Tom, our Founder/CEO, about the future of building materials.

See you there!

A significant share of the carbon problem has been overlooked.

Historically, policy and industry action have focused on reducing the operational carbon of buildings.

But if the UK is to reach its 2050 net zero target, we must also address embodied carbon. The emissions locked into the materials we specify, manufacture, and install.

At Adaptavate, we’re addressing this challenge at the material level, rethinking how building materials are formulated and manufactured, with a focus on high-volume materials like plasterboard.

Wallboard is one of the most used building materials in the world. And when a material used at that scale becomes carbon-storing, the potential impact is significant.

Drop-in, performance alternatives.
Installed the same way.
Designed to decarbonise construction at scale.
