Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

When you arrive at the harbour you will notice ‘Lookout’ and ‘Coal Arch’ silhouetted against the skyline. The two new sculptures stand in the footprints of previous structures seen in old photos taken during the harbour’s golden age.

‘Lookout’ stands in the footprint of a former hut that used to watch for vessels coming up the estuary.
Now a place to watch nature and wildlife and absorb all the incredible tidal power of the River Severn estuary.
Stacked Forest pennant stone. The silver grey Lookout roof is made from Ekki, an African hardwood reclaimed from Tilbury docks.

‘Coal Arch’ is at the location where a black hut stood beside coal tip number 9. It forms a framing for the view of the estuary as you follow the trail with small openings ‘windowing’ views out over the river.
Slow grown British Larch charred using a technique called Shou Sugi Ban, to resemble coal, historically one of the harbour’s main exports.

An absolute pleasure for us to have played a small part in this installation by for Crisis
Engineering assistance of internal structure of the 4.5m high Sculpture 'Alex'.
Alex is not a homeless person to be easily ignored.

This is Alex. A giant, life-like human sculpture representing multiple, real people who have experienced homelessness.

Created by artist Sophie de Oliveira Barata, Alex has been designed to stop people in their tracks. Because we can’t ignore homelessness any longer.

You can see Alex outside King’s Cross Station in London today and tomorrow, before he travels to the in Birmingham for the remainder of the week. bit.ly/3VU08RR

Good luck to England tonight in Round 16 of the world cup in Qatar.
Artura worked with Hightex Gmbh and Cimolai S.p.A on the unique Bedouin tent shaped Al Bayt stadium. Carrying out the detail engineering and fabrication detailing for the tensile fabric roof, façade & Jaquard inner liner membranes.
Great to have been involved in a truly original stadium structures.
