On 1 January 2021 free trade officially started under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). There is every reason to celebrate this marked progress. Sub Sahara Africa has over 1.2 billion people who call it home. According to United Nations Statistics, over half will be under 25 years old by 2050. This fact presents immense opportunities. A 1.2 Billion person strong Free Trade Area. For those who will succeed, the time to focus is now. Fashion to clothe everyone, Agriculture to feed all, Transport and Energy you name it, the list for growth sectors is endless. To speed up growth, Governments, Businesses and the African Diaspora can work hand in hand to craft policies and generate the investments required to realise the full potential of this powerhouse.
