We were pleased to be part of a great evening at the Barnsley Chronicle Young Champion Awards last week, celebrating inspiring young people from our local community 🌟

Hargreaves Industrial Services were proud to sponsor the Young Volunteer award, with our Managing Director, Sean Hager, presenting the award.

Congratulations to Eliza Rushforth, a very worthy winner. At just seven years old, Eliza used her own money to buy and donate Christmas gifts to poorly children at Barnsley Hospital. She also walked over 60 miles as part of a challenge, raising funds to support premature and poorly babies.

Proud to support something that recognises the positive impact being made across our local community. Well done Eliza and to the rest of the winners 🏆

For more than 30 years, Lucie McDermott has played a pivotal role in the business, building a career defined by adaptability, leadership and a deep understanding of our operations.

Joining part-time in 1994 while at university, Lucie progressed through a variety of roles spanning quality, business systems and business development before becoming Proposals Director over a decade ago. Today, she leads the team responsible for delivering high-quality tenders and supporting marketing activity across the business.

Reflecting on her journey, Lucie credits the variety of opportunities, supportive colleagues and collaborative culture for her long-standing career. She continues to enjoy working with customers, winning new business and helping shape the company’s growth strategy.

On 11 April, the Hargreaves South Africa team took part in Rocking the Vaal 2026, volunteering alongside other local organisations to serve pancakes for the community.

The annual event, organised by the Golden Triangle Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Emerald Casino Tsogo Sun, supports local charities and community initiatives across the Vaal Triangle, including feeding programmes and educational support.

As part of the day, participating organisations joined a collective Guinness World Record attempt for the most pancakes served in eight hours. Together, the group surpassed the existing record of 27,000, achieving a new total of 29,600 pancakes served.

A fantastic well done to our SA team involved.

We hope everyone had a wonderful Easter break 🐣

We recently received a heartfelt message of thanks from Barnsley Hospice following this year’s Easter Fair, where Hargreaves once again supported the event with our much-loved hot dog stand.

The fair had a fantastic community atmosphere, with an impressive turnout of supporters. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, the event raised over £1,600 for Barnsley Hospice, helping them continue their vital work providing comfort, care and dignity to local families.

Great to be part of the Give Construction a Try event yesterday at Castleford College.

We hosted an interactive activity to give the children a hands-on insight into construction and the opportunities within the industry. It was fantastic to see so many people getting involved and giving it a go.
