It’s not just about building scaffolding — it’s about understanding what’s happening above and around you. 👷‍♂️

Teaching the boys why communication and awareness matter, and how a dropped fitting can put someone below at risk.

Practical lessons to help them understand the responsibility that comes with learning the trade. 💪

Big thanks to Nolan Hiab Transport & Plant Hire for supporting the programme. 🤝

🏗️ DAY 5 COMPLETE — WE’VE GOT SHEETS ON THE ROOF! 👊🔥

Another cracking day for the boys on the ATC Youth Scaffolding Programme!

✅ Beams installed
✅ Locking tubes and plan bracing completed
✅ Purlins on
✅ First few roof sheets installed

Five days of hands-on training, and these youngsters are already seeing their temporary roof take shape!

Remember, these boys are only 13–16 years old, and some had never even picked up a scaffold tube before joining us.

Now they’re working together, learning new skills and seeing the results of their hard work.

The confidence, teamwork and work ethic they’re developing is exactly what this programme is about.

And the best part? They’re enjoying every minute of it! ❤️

A few sheets on today, and we’ll be back to finish the rest next time round!

🏗️ DAY 4 – THE BOYS ARE MAKING PROGRESS! 👊💪

Another day on the ATC Youth Scaffolding Programme, and today we’re getting the boys involved in boarding out the bottom of the beams.

The aim is to create a safe working platform before progressing with the purlins above.

It’s not just about putting boards down. It’s about understanding WHY we do things in a certain order and how proper planning helps prevent accidents.

We’re teaching these youngsters to think ahead, recognise hazards and understand the importance of having a safe working platform before starting the next stage.

Four days in, and the confidence and ability we’re seeing from some of these boys is brilliant! 👏

🏗️ THIS LOOKS A LOT MORE DRAMATIC THAN IT ACTUALLY WAS! 😳

Another lesson for the boys on the ATC Youth Scaffolding Programme.

This time, we’re introducing them to what happens when someone falls into their safety harness and why having a proper rescue plan is so important.

The youngsters were suspended for just a few seconds during a controlled exercise, with supervision and rescue arrangements in place to lower them.

The purpose wasn’t to frighten them.

It was to help them understand the dangers of working at height and why fall prevention, correct harness use and emergency rescue procedures matter.

You can explain something to a youngster 100 times, but sometimes seeing or experiencing a situation helps them understand the importance of what they’re being taught.

We’re not just teaching these boys how to put scaffold up.

We’re trying to give them an understanding of ALL aspects of the trade, including the dangers that come with it.

REAL LIFE.
REAL EXPERIENCE.
REAL LESSONS.

Safety isn’t just about wearing a harness. It’s about understanding how to prevent a fall and what to do if something goes wrong. 👊🏗️

⚠️ IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE

This video is intended to highlight the importance of fall prevention, harness safety and emergency rescue procedures when working at height.

The youngsters were suspended for only a few seconds, with supervision and rescue arrangements in place.

Working at height carries serious risks, and even a short period of harness suspension is not without danger.

This is not an instructional video or an exercise we encourage others to replicate.

Our aim is to help these youngsters understand the dangers of the trade, not just the practical skills involved in scaffolding.

PREVENTING A FALL WILL ALWAYS BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN DEALING WITH ONE. 🏗️👊

And that right there is what this course is about, its not about ATC bringing on new staff, it’s not about building business through socials, as most people turn their nose up at is as they are so fu***ng wet. Its about giving these kids the opportunity and time they deserve, I have said all along behind close doors, if I can put all these kids into work on other firms and keep them from the street life then that is more success than any financial gain possible. I will be actively training these boys and ringing around firms to place them as the time goes on.

🏗️ DAY 3 — THE BOYS ARE UP ON THE BEAMS! 👊💪

Another big step forward for the ATC Youth Scaffolding Programme!

Today the boys are up on the scaffold, getting involved with positioning and connecting the beams under close supervision.

And as you’ll see from the video, we’ve got one youngster who’s REALLY standing out! 👀👏

It’s amazing what you start to see when you give these kids an opportunity to get involved and show what they’re capable of.

Some take a little longer to find their feet, others seem to take to it naturally.

But every single one of them is learning, improving and gaining confidence.

We’re not looking for perfection. We’re looking for effort, willingness to learn and a good attitude.

And this particular youngster is certainly showing all three! 👊

REAL SKILLS. REAL EXPERIENCE. REAL OPPORTUNITIES.

🏗️ DAY 3 — THE BOYS ARE GETTING UP THERE! 👊

Another big step forward for the youngsters on the ATC Youth Scaffolding Programme!

The beams are going into place, and the boys are getting their first taste of working at height under supervision.

But there’s a lot more to this than simply getting up on a scaffold.

It’s about understanding the risks, communicating with each other, learning the correct procedures and building confidence without cutting corners.

Some youngsters have never experienced anything like this before.
