At Cambs Gritting despite the recent heatwaves, we are receiving many enquiries regarding our winter gritting services, keeping us busy in the office.

Preparations are well underway pre-season for what is set to be one of our busiest winter seasons to date. We are committed to continuing to deliver the reliable, high-quality service our clients expect.

To support our continued growth, we’ve added four new Vale TS1700 gritters from the fantastic team at Vale Engineering (York) Ltd. Thereby, increasing our capacity and improving responsiveness across all of our service areas.

Our full-time engineer, Kieran, is carrying out full servicing of our gritting fleet in our fully equipped workshop. Ensuring every vehicle is serviced to the highest standard before the season begins.

Our bespoke gritting app provides customers with real-time updates, photographs, and detailed reports after every operation. It’s another step forward in improving transparency, communication, and confidence in our service. With every vehicle within our fleet being fitted with full GPS tracking, providing eviendece of every completed gritting operation.

With additional capacity available for the 2026/27 winter season, we’re now welcoming enquiries from businesses looking for a professional and dependable winter maintenance provider. We’d like to wish everyone a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year. A huge thank you to our customers (old and new), our fantastic suppliers, and our amazingly dedicated team who have been working tirelessly throughout the festive period.

With wintry showers expected overnight, our team will be out tonight for what looks to be our busiest night of the winter so far, servicing sites across Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire, and surrounding counties.

🚜 We now have 20+ snow ploughs within the business, with our snow-clearing teams on standby should accumulations build over the next 24 hours.

With road surface temperatures forecasted for -1.9 from the Met Office tomorrow morning it’s our busiest gritting run of the season. With teams servicing sites in Cambs, Northants, Beds, Suffolk and Rutland. Currently a waiting game in Peterborough/ Stamford waiting for the last of the rain to clear allowing sites to dry up.

Cambs Gritting is gearing up for our busiest winter season to date, with preparations well underway to ensure we continue delivering a reliable and high-quality service to our clients.

To support our ongoing growth, we’ve added four new Vale TS1700 gritters from the fantastic team Vale Engineering (York) Ltd and five additional 4x4 vehicles to our fleet, increasing both capacity and responsiveness across all service areas.

Our in-house engineer, Kieran, is completing pre-delivery inspections and fleet servicing in our fully equipped workshop, ensuring every vehicle is maintained to the highest standard.

This season will also see the launch of our new bespoke gritting app, providing clients with real-time updates, photos, and reports following each operation — improving transparency, communication, and confidence in our service.

All vehicles are fitted with GPS tracking, giving full verification of every gritting activity.

What a week it’s been. Mother nature has truly got us up to speed this week. With all 13 in-house teams out on the first night of the gritting season, far from a gentle start. It was a long night but all sites were serviced by 04:30. A massive thanks to our dedicated and experienced team.

We have trackers fitted to all machines, backing up and proving our quality service.

Perfect timing, two new Vale TS1700 gritters delivered this morning. We first dealt with James at Vale back in 2012 when we bought our first spreader. Perfect example of “Buy British”, the Vales are superbly engineered. We now have 14 of these machines running in Cambridgeshire and the surrounding counties.

Potentially, these two new gritters will not be used this season, as we have a policy of always having two spare trailed gritters in the shed for any breakdowns or tender wins mid season. Therefore, meaning we can deliver 100% performance and have extra capacity should we need it.

Please get in touch for all your salt spreading requirements in Cambridgeshire and the surrounding counties. We cover approximately a 60 mile radius from HQ in Huntingdon. With salt depots at Huntingdon, Cambridge, Northanpton, Stamford and Corby. Meaning we have limited traveling times thereby, increasing our efficiency.

Two new Vale spreaders delivered today. A trailed TS1700 and a TS80 quad bike drop spreader.
